Yellow argiope aurantia


We get these lovely spiders here. They're commonly known as garden spiders, but I call them zipper spiders as the center of their web is usually a white zipper pattern (this one's got more of a white fuzz spot).

Based on her very full body, this momma is about to lay some eggs. She's a beaut - measures maybe 3 1/2 inches long.

Whenever Terminix is due to come treat the outside of the house, I tape notes to the windows to leave the garden spiders alone. I think they think I'm nuts...
