The hummers have begun to step up their feeding schedule and the black-bellied whistling ducks have begun to gather in groups larger than two. So I know fall is on the horizon as they're preparing to head south soon.
Right now, we're getting up to 6 hummers at a time at the feeders, but soon we'll get 10 to 20 or more in their feeding frenzy. I've got 5 feeders hung up right now; 3 at the house eaves and 2 in the trees (where I continually have to remove praying mantises). I'll need to stock up on sugar for a few weeks yet to give them plenty of fuel for their grueling migration.
