Just thought I'd throw in a pond pic. We call these trees the finger trees because their spires reach upward like spindly fingers. They're actually water willows. Sadly one has completely expired and the fingers keep breaking off when we get wind storms, and now the second one has begun to die off. But we have young ones popping up in other locations so I know we'll have some finger trees to come.
We were advised to cut these trees down as they drink a lot of water which saps the pond during the hot summer, but we enjoy them too much to do so. We've been lucky that our pond is deep enough and has never dried up, even in drought, so we'll let nature do its thing.
