I (heart) butterflies!

I caught this butterfly forming a heart shape just as it closed its wings.
Here he is unfurled.  I think this is a Queen (Danaus gilippus thersippus)

I've never seen a butterfly like that before. Must be native to your area? Beautiful.

What a gorgeous butterfly and even more lovely on the yellow flowers. When I enlarged the photos I think I saw a couple of hearts in the spots.

Curious, twg. Why is this post suddenly getting additional comments months after it was originally posted?

Hi Katie:

I linked it up to a new blog I discovered last week that captures found hearts.

I had linked in my water drop heart photos last week when I stumbled across her site so started following her. :)
