Up a tree

For two nights, Tuxedo's cat food dish was mysteriously empty but clean (in other words, the raccoons didn't do it).  Plus he had disappeared from the barn a couple of times.  Figured out it was because of this guy.  He must be a tom as Tuxedo wouldn't cede his barn territory for a female kitty.  Anyway, the dogs rushed him out of the barn one afternoon and up into a tree where he sat (unhappily) until night fall.

I'm happy to report the orange tabby did make an escape without further incident.  A neighbor was firing a gun which was enough to convince Thelma to give up her sentry duty and come inside for the night.

Glad the kitty was able to make a mad dash to safety -- well, let's hope anyway. Great pictures! Really tell the story. ;)

Thanks, Nancy. Yes, we've had plenty of not-so-happy endings around here for critters so I'm happy to report the good ones! :)

Bet that cat is kinda thankful that Thelma can't climb trees! What kind of dog is she?

Thelma is a Catahoula/Pointer mix, as best as we can figure. She and her sister Louise (who seems to be all Catahoula) were dumped on the back dirt road and were starving as "teenagers" - that is, until Husband spotted them, told me, and we began feeding them several times a day for 2 1/2 weeks. Then I was finally able to get close enough to snatch them up and stuff them in my car and bring them home to live in paradise... :)

Oh, and FYI, Catahoulas are officially known as the "Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Cur". It's a hound dog bred out of the state of Louisiana for hunting wild boar (and lots of folks use them for coon hunting and steer wrangling too).

They're very tough. Louise is our smallest at 60 lbs and is fearless.
