Stand off at the pond

I heard Baron barking on the other side of the pond one day.  Just standing there and barking.

This was the object of his fixation vexation.
It was a face off.
They stayed like this for about 10 minutes; Baron sending over a menacing bark every few moments while the egret just glared at him, not flinching.  Finally Baron meandered off in the opposite direction, never running around to get closer to the egret.
Perhaps he was smart enough to know the egret would just fly off if he approached and he didn't want to waste his energy.
Or maybe he was just feeling a bit unbrave (we won't say "chicken.")

Our Sadie does things like that...Acts all brave then backs off. Baron is beautiful. Is he a black lab?

Baron was just letting that big ole bird know who's pond that was...from a respectable distance of course!

Baron and Buck could discuss the finer points of being a big, black, lovable wimp. I love it! :)

That was cute! No, I wouldn't consider him a chicken, just wise! LOL!

Funny! Oh... how we wish we had a dog! Hubby is allergic, so alas we had to pick between him and a dog. There was the slightest moment's hesitation when we made our final decision, but no worries... all in favour of the man of the house! ;)

I translated the egret's glare as "Yeah, WHATEVER!"

That reminds me of something that happened the other day on my way to work. I was at an intersection waiting to cross the street when a car drove past with a big white dog with it's head sticking out the passenger window. The funny thing was the dog was barking, but at nothing in particular. It was like it was imitating a siren.

Such a pretty place. I love how still the water looks and how black your dog is against the reflection in the water. It looks like a wonderful place to take pictures.
