Looks like it could be another win for the Grackles...
Oops!  Not so fast!  Judges call it a draw!

I don't think it matters who wins, you have a lot of mouths or bills to feed.

In that first pic that bird looks pretty mean!! I'm glad I'm not a bird...I'd never make it!

Great shots!
Kisses and nice weekend.

Looks like a free-for-all at the birdfeeder! Every bird for him- or herself. The woodpeckers are really bunching up around ours these days -- which is always a nice thing. :)

They are a wonder to see, brilliant.

I'll bet it's more than a bit noisy around your place! :-)

Pretty incredible series of photos. I'm in New Braunfels and haven't seen any redwings, but the grackles number in the hundreds in the evenings as dusk approaches!!

You really got a collection of red-winged and grackles. I didn't see any blackbird but there are probably some in there that I missed. I don't know what you are doing to attract such great numbers. Maybe you are farther south and I am here near Dayton, ohio and it might be warmer where you life. But we have a few cardinals and downy woodpeckers and red-bellied woodpeckers and starlings but they seem to have gone away and the sparrows and a few house finches. And that's it and never more then one or two at any one time – except the cardinals.

I love that pretty aqua blue color of the Grackles head. It's almost my favorite color of blue. Nice collection you have there.

To answer Honest Abe's question....Have you heard how much seed T puts out? THAT"S why she has a ton of birds. The more seed you put out, the more birds you get. Not to mention the fact that she's in Texas where it's warm. Not warm here today Temp is 0.

Karen - SO TRUE!!! I thought we had 7 feeders in that one tree - we actually have 8 (2 sunflower, 2 niger, 2 flat platforms, 1 ranch-style and 1 tube-style). And yes, the feed store loves me (as does Walmart). :)
