Another Red-Shouldered Hawk

One second, looking as curious and sweet as a parakeet and the next, looking like the sharp-eyed, sharp-beaked, taloned hunter he or she is.

I love this one - looking straight up.

And yes - the TexWisGirl gimmick:  "Bird making a getaway" aka "The Fly Bye" shot.
But it shows off the reason for the moniker so well!

Oh yes-keep him right in Texas away from my fancy chickens!! Beautiful shots!! I chased one with a broom a couple years ago that swooped down near my chickens-couldn't believe afterwards that I had!!

I love watching hawks. We have one down the road that sits in the same place and looks like he is patiently waiting for the mouse to come out of it's whole. wonderful creatures!

Hawks are such beautiful birds and this one is no exception. I've never heard of 'red shoulder'. Lat week, I happened to be in the right place at the right time and captured a red-tailed hawk at less than 20' with a 200mm telephoto, which I hope to be posting soon.

They are so amazing. I have a coopers hawk nest in a tree in our yard. They have been nesting here for 4 years now. I have not seen them around the nest this year. They are in the area though.

What a fine series of this great looking bird. The one flying add more details and finishes the series very well. Nice job of shooting.

I had never seen one like this before, with the shades of colour. And those wings, oh... I spent time looking at the details of those wings.

Beautiful, Ms. T.!!

and this is why my kids are penned in the barn with Mom for 3-4 weeks after being born. Our kids are a lot smaller than some. These guys could just pick one up and off he would go with it.
