Great Blue Heron - Act I

One day last week, a beautiful Great Blue Heron walked along our pond on the side closest to the house.  The sun was shining and he was feeling very photogenic.  I took so many great grand shots of this Great, I just have to break it down into several posts.

More grandness to follow...

You must be very good at sneaking up on the wildlife. I am wondering if you have blinds set up? The photos are as wonderful as the subject.

Oh you got so close. I have always wanted to get that close to one but have never been able too. I like all of the detail on its face. Just beautiful. Have you ever got a picture of one eating a frog? I saw it once and only once.

when I saw the post title, I squealed. I love these birds. we have one that lives by the mill pond down the road. I see him every year, sometimes standing in the middle of the pond just waiting. I've gotten a couple of shots of him but none as good as these. I recently found out his name is Henry. have a great day texwisgirl.

One of my goals is to photograph a blue heron, but when I see them, they are in the river and I can't get close enough. I think ours aren't the Great Blue, either because the coloring is different. Did you use a long lens? Fabulous shots!
