Little "Nessie"

Our over-wintering pied-bill grebe (nicknamed for the Loch Ness Monster) is still hanging around.  I'm expecting him/her to leave any day now for more northern territory.  He or she is just the cutest little thing - you can see here that either "Nessie" is tiny or that turtle is huge!  Maybe a little of both!

I love the tranquility of the water. I also love how reflective the water looks. Do you stock your pond? Is if filled from a underground spring? At my Dad's house, shoot, I guess I could say mine now, eek, but anyway, they have some like that that are filled with springs but they have water moccasins and snapping turtles as big around as me, so I wondered if you have some too?

I hope that he/she is not running away from the turtle?

They are a little bird, I saw one yesterday but before I could raise my camera it seemed to fold itself and drop straight down into the water.

Nice turtle. I hear they make good soup, but I realize that is not gonna happen to "Nessie". Ha.

Our pond dried up and made me one very sad woman. But, I really do love your photos!

I wonder what/who he/she is waiting for?

Nessie sure is a cutie! I'm surprised the turtle didn't eat her up. We had a pond when I was a teen and the turtles or something in the pond would eat the baby ducks. Sad but true. We finally gave up on having ducks.
