Theresa, I'm envious that you have Cardinals. They don't range this far west. I've only ever seen one live one, in Nashville. They are pretty!

Very nice shots. We have several pairs of cardinals in our garden and they are our Ohio State bird. I'm always so happy to see them, even though there are quite a few around.

My daughters have something just like that. It's called extensions.

A beauty I've never seen before. Great shots.
Thanks for your nice comment in my blog. You're right, I'm tired of winter and snow right now, but when the spring comes, what a joy:))
Have a nice weekend, more snow is expected here tomorrow.
Greetings from,
Berit.

I love cardinals. they have a certain charisma about them. love their mask. This one does have a long tail. goodness.

I never thought about it, but, cardinals do have long tails, don't they? Maybe it's to balance out the weight of the puffed chest that all that beauty must give them.

Always love seeing the cardinals as they are a rare sighting in these parts. I'm catching up with your posts today. Little Nessie looks so alone on the pond, hope he/she has good luck this summer finding a mate! Your ranch looks so peaceful: horses, birds, dogs, ducks...what more does a girl need? Oh yeah a husband that cleans! Seems you've got it made.

The last shot of him is awesome! The tail does look bigger than his body.

I just love Cardinals, we have several pair that live close by, they come and visit my feeder often.

I love Cardinals...have you ever wondered why the "male" birds are always the prettiest?

Rural Revival said...

I always seem to scare away the cardinals outside my kitchen window. Think it has something to do with me in my red housecoat, looking like a giant cardinal headed for the same trough? ; )

great shots...you know how i love cardinals...

Cardinals were my beloved Great Gram's favorite bird and thus, by default, are mine.

Thanks for sharing this little guy. You just made me remember my Gram, and smile. :)

great shots...i love cardinals. i have read that all species of male birds are prettier so they can/will attract the females. i always delete the "fly by" shots, feeling they are flawed or uninteresting. i did not see the beauty in these shots until now. thanks for sharing. xo

Neat shots of the cardinal! I'm going to have to figure out a way to take photos of cardinals without spooking them.

Awesome shots of that Handsome Guy! One visited my GARDEN the other day....I gave him a talkin' to about checkin' in at the B&B where there's Food and a Bath! Pretty Boy was not interested in being friendly with Sparrows!

Have you ever read that book by Gene Stratton Porter called Song of the Cardinal? I always think of it when I see your pictures of the cardinals.

What a lovely splash of red for springtime!

The Cardinal does seem to have an exceptionally long tail, but that doesn't seem to hamper his flying.

Rose said...

He does have a long tail, doesn't he. Makes me wonder are they all that way and I have just never seen them from this angle...

I have no words to express my idea about this. Simply it is very nice.
