A bath before bedtime

A black-bellied whistler pair took one more bath before the sun set one evening.

Alternating backwards head arcs.

Going off like lawn sprinklers!

Then all quiet once again.

Linking to World Bird Wednesday.

These are gorgeous shots, as always. Thanks for sharing - you're just so great at capturing our feathered friends! I'm not usually quick (or quiet) enough, plus I still need to start saving for a fabulous telephoto. This could take a long while ;) -Tammy

Another fine sequence. I like this one with the evening light making them, at times, close to silhouettes. You got them at just the right points too. Excellent.

Lovely, amazing series! I love the beautiful ripples they made on the water.
I just helped giving Helmer his evening bath. He hasn't discovered the fun with splashing yet, he just visibly enjoys the feeling of the warm water all around him.
I'm sure he remembers that feeling from the womb! :-)
I wish you a very happy and relaxing Easter holiday!

I love it when my ducks do the sprinkler move in the kiddie pool. Hy-larious!

Great shots, as always. :)

The rings of light on water are so calming. It reminds me of the times I sit and read Mary Oliver, or light incense along the pool's edge and swim, noiselessly, in the crackling water.

Wonderful sentiment here.

I love watching birds take baths. I have been watching the silly black birds take baths in the water around the trees, unlike sparrows who like dust baths.
I would enjoy watching those amazing ducks.

You sure live amid wonderful scenes of nature. Geogypsy also showed us these ducks a while back. I don't think they visit California. I always enjoy seeing the different critters from other parts of the country.

I wonder if I have ever heard the sounds a whistler duck makes?

These photographs are just super cool! It's like you captured a light I have rarely seen in photos and did a magnificent job of it!

Again, jealous of that pond. I spend a lot of time at my brother's pond, but rarely see ducks. Excellent shots.

The drops of water from the duck's bill make for an incredible shot.

In the last shot I think they are both saying to each other " can you believe she was taking pictures of us bathing?" LOL

You take the coolest pictures. Your animals and birds don't have a prayer of a private life with your camera in hand ~ lol. Just kidding ~ keep on snapping!
