Black-Bellied Whistlers

Told you I was going to post more of these lovely and interesting ducks.  Here they're gathering under the bird feeder tree, hoping to get a meal.
Approaching carefully.

Not sure if things are safe.

Love their white eye-liner.


The front row eats while the flank guards keep watch.

I've never seen or, at least, noticed those! Their eyeliner is quite attractive! Along with that beautiful reddish-brown and black on their chest and belly! GREAT photos! blessings ~tanna

Very unusual looking, as everyone here as stated. I always wonder why a bird has developed the coloration they have -- I imagine these ducks are in their mating plumage right now. Just beautiful!

Lucky You!! According to "All About Birds", they never make it past Texas. They are mostly in South America and Mexico. Cute little guys.

I love these ducks! I saw them last spring near Sarasota, Florida. They are cool!
