Silly whistlers

Heard all sorts of hell-raising going on outside one afternoon - black-bellied whistling ducks just whistling, scolding and calling.  Went out to the front yard and saw a whole flock of them sitting high amongst the locust tree limbs, just yammering at each other.  Appears some new arrivals joined the others at Run*A*Round as I later counted 22 whistlers here at one time.  They're quite vocal in their greetings.  Here's a few images of these silly ducks.

they are so cute....were they welcoming the new comers Or were they letting them know the rules?

They are too cute- however annoying their whistle may be;))

You really got some good shots. Love the last one, framed by the tree and green leaves. They may be annoying, but they are pretty.

You really must live on a wild bird sanctuary!! Love the peaking upside down pic!! I never imagined Texas was so beautiful-pictured it more desert and barren! It's beautiful!!

Great shots...I can only imagine the noise they must make. This is the first time I have ever seen a duck perched in a tree! How in the world do they hold on with those webbed feet????

Ducks in trees? Who woulda thunk it?

love the head tilt. was s/he wondering what you were up too? guess that leads to another question...do the sexes vary in color or marking?

You really captured their personality. They are so cute the way they turn their heads to look at you. We see them in the trees here as well in the winter.

I thought of you last evening when we went to look at a house situated right next door to a pond filled with ducks (at least 25). The ducks were flying all around (fat and heavy) and there was even a big crane stalking around. Not sure if it is the house for us, but we loved the idea of the pond!

Your bird photography is awesome! I love your pictures. These guys are so cute.

Handsome horse seems to be a bit better today. He's grazing like mad, and moving more than he was before. Maybe the meds are helping. :)

Your shots are awesome! I don't think I've ever seen a duck sitting in a tree before....

I like the openness of your trees so you can get some clean shots of these interesting birds. Nice detail and color in these shots too. Very well done.

They were posing for you!!! They were, weren't they? Cocking their heads and wondering... "Did she take the picture? Is she done?"

This is the very first time I see ducks on a tree. The other day, it was the first time I saw them on a fence. How fantastic!
