"Elvis and Priscilla"

The one 'pair' of whistlers continues to hang out here.  I was beginning to think of them as two bachelors until I got a closer look the other day.  Seems one has a gray face (an adult) and the other is still brown faced (the 'teenagers' are all brown and begin to bring in their other colors as they mature).  So I got to thinking, maybe it's an older male and a younger female that was born late last year and she's still too young to settle down.  Sort of like Elvis waiting for Priscilla to get a bit older before marrying her.  So that's what I've dubbed them.

And that's dreaded cottonwood floating all over the pond...

Awesome shots! Why do you refer to the cottonwood as "dreaded?" Just curious...I'm a city girl wannabe country girl. :-)

Great names for that lovely pair :)

Such a shame about the babies in the last post. I hope the others survive!

That cheeky Squirrel made me laugh and the little Painted Bunting really does look just like a child has painted it, so pretty!

I hope you don't mind me mentioning several posts in one comment :)

Elvis and Priscilla are excellent. We had an Elvis and Priscilla. But a week ago a predator got Priscilla. We still have Elvis though.

What a cute pair, even if he is a bit her senior :)

And Oh the dreaded cottonwood, just the mention of it makes me sneeze. We have it here too but not as bad as in other parts of Montana that I've lived.

You have a keen eye. I like that stump he's standing on.

Maybe you should leave a peanut butter and banana sandwich for him ;-)

Like Becca at the top, I too wondered why "dreaded". But being a city mouse I don't know about the sneezing and probable mess they leave behind. I just think they are cool trees creating summertime snow.

I'm loving the name selection. Hopefully the fame won't ruin their relationship, tee hee.

You clever Mama, figuring that out. Geez, nature is really interesting when you can get close enough to really study it and thanks to you, this is possible. My eyesight is so poor I can't tell from a distance. :)

Why do you say "dreaded" cottonwood? Is it a pesky tree?

Nita Davis said...

Love the photos, LOVE the names ... hate the cottonwood! Although under the right circumstances I guess cottonwood puffs blowing in the breeze could make for an interesting photograph.

Cottonwood is nasty, we don't have it here but I remember it from the South.
