Okay - a couple of inside shots

Some of you have asked for shots of the inside of our 9-sided 'gazebo' house.  Well, because I HATE to clean house (and with 5 dogs, there's plenty of dog hair, dust and dirt at all times), I'll only give you a couple of 'feature' shots.  :)
The center of our house is a 9-sided skylight.  Obviously, it was custom made.
The sun (and full moon) can throw some interesting light patterns on the walls through it.
The upper level consists of 18 windows all the way around the top of the house.
The center of the house is just a big open area - like a great room.
We have cedar ceilings in the open areas (foyer, kitchen, dining, loft).
An open loft is over part of the house (the living room sits under its ceiling) and a spiral staircase leads up to it - very
hard to get furniture up there.
We have a free-standing metal fireplace that vents up through the chimney pipe you see here.
Fireplace - of course it's round...

We call this the Golden Pinecone - it's the light fixture that hangs in the foyer.

There you have it - a sneak peak of the inside without all the furniture, decor, and fussy stuff.   And, no, we did not build this house.  It was designed by someone else and we're the 3rd owners.

that is the coolest house!! INSIDE and OUT! i agree with Gone Country...LOVE the Pinecone! wow! all the windows, high ceilings, spiral staircase...LOVE it!

thanks for the peek...no worries about the dust or dirt...i get it...i live on a dirt road...and you just can't get rid of it completely... :]

Dirt here all the time too, even with one dog. I know some people vacuum VERY often so the pet hair doesn't accumulate, but I like to leave it until it's in cute fur balls that tumble around the house with the circulation of the ceiling fans. Yep, dancing fur balls... that's my house. LOL

Love the open concept of your home and hope that one day we get to see a bit more.

Thanks for sharing!! It's always a joy to come visit you here.

since the day I found your blog, i have been just "slightly" envious of your ranch and beautiful home. this view from the inside has upped the slight to REALLY REALLY envious. this is just wonderful. that light fixture is stunning. i love the great room conscept. our home the middle of the house is totally open, if you look in our living room window you can see all the way through to the pool in the back yard and that is why we bought the house 22 years ago. it was empty and we looked through this room that is 17 wide and 37 deep. we always wanted to buid a log cabin with open concept or an AFrame similar to yours. but now i would LOVE to have one like yours. fantastic and thanks for sharing. can't wait to show hubby when he gets home.

Cool house! Love the skylight and the pinecone. The stairs reminds me of a text photo son sent me. He was helping a friend of his move into a house with a similar stairs. He took a shot from above looking down. Scary! Maybe because I'm recovering from taking a tumble down the stairs. Nope, it was just a scary shot!

What I really, really like is the thought of all those windows you mentioned! I love lots of light in a house. The rest of it sounds/looks wonderful but the thing that would have caught me would be all the windows. And I love that free standing fireplace...

Hello! New follower here, also from Texas (waaaayyyy south). LOVE your photography!!

I'm also the mom of 24paws (3 dogs, 3 cats), so I understand about the dog hair issue...sometimes I wonder how my critters still have fur, with as much as they shed!

I'm looking forward to following your blog :-)

i really appreciate you sharing as i know you did not really want too :))

we had a skylight over our bed, we thought it would be romantic & fun. we dreamed of star gazing from bed.

it's covered now....we forgot about thunder & lightning, makes it almost impossible to sleep!!

That light fixture ROCKS! I think we both live in areas where dusting does no good. There is always dust here.

That is really neat...all of it. Like everyone else, the light fixture is amazing. I bet it never gets cleaned. I mean, how would you? It looks hazardous. Well, you can't stop now. Do show more, dog hair be damned. We don't care.

Well I find it really interesting, like how many bedrooms does it have and bathrooms and I didn't know it had a loft. I think the lighting looks pretty and I really like the windows at the top. Do you get up there and wash them?
Gee whiz I bet I could ask you a million questions.
I have wondered about so much about your house and property. Thanks for the view.

very cool!! i love different instead of "cookie cutter" houses!

Dog hair, cat hair, dust, animal dander, more dust, and more dog and cat hair - you should never be concerned about it. All of us that have pets know how that goes.

I loved your house!! The concept is so fascinating/interesting. Original and out of the ordinary.

I can imagine the hassle to move furniture up that staircase, though. One would require a "six pack" of strong - STRONG - guys to work around it. Wow!

Fantastic fireplace. Gorgeous light fixture!

Finally, the dust and all would not disturb me but, cleaning all those windows - high up there - oh, boy! That would be tough!

Now you are satisfying my itch to know more about that house! Wow... great upstairs windows! I love the light and space you have, combined with wood ceilings. Warm and cozy, too!

Cindy said...

Unique isn't the word for your house! It's really, really a neat place, but I can see that it would be rather difficult to arrange furniture, etc. I'm a lot like you when it comes to cleaning! ACH! There's so many more fun things to do than stressing about dust and dog hair.

Such an interesting home you have! Thank you for sharing these wonderful glimpses. We have 3 dogs and the hair and dirt accumulate soon after I dust. It's impossible to conquer, so we have learned to live with it. :/
