Do you think that was a fishing trick? Like: "pretend you are a stump"?

A beautiful BIG bird, for sure. And fantastic pictures.

Oh, I loved the detail of the one black (?) bird that sneaked into view.
Have a great day, T !

My employer just brought in a piece of driftwood that looks like the head and neck of a blue heron. I should have photographed it to show you. What a coincidence!

These are great. You can almost hear the ripple of the water and the camera's click. Do you think there's something going on there?

The bird does an excellent job of looking like a stump, but I think his shadow does an even better impersonation.

Good caption. Like someone mentioned, I wonder if he is mimicking the stump for a fishing advantage. We often do not give animals enough credit for their intelligence.

Debbie said...

you should write a book, really.

or have your blog printed "blog2print"....do it!!!!

Fortunately, I was able to swallow my coffee before viewing this, otherwise, my screen and keyboard would be covered!

Are you sure of who is imitating who(m?)?

The position of the old snag and the long neck of this bird make a complementing pair of visual elements that make this shot very strong. Excellent.

Nice series! Burds are always a favorite subject for me to shoot.
