Warning: Photo overload on buff bathing Blue Jay

Look at this face plant!

Reminds me of a roadrunner.

Okay, I get it.  You're tough...

I like the single drop of water coming off his tail here.

He was just too darn cute, deciding if he should go for another dip...  (and he didn't!)

Great captures! Such a colourful... and wet... :) little bird.

That little Cardinal looks like it has had its claws in the plug socket too, with that hairdo :)

Cute birdie. I don't always think these jays are cute. I just got back from the W-mart with a new blender. They have lowered the price to $17! =D

Stay cool! Pray for rain!

So cute, I never see the birds in my birdbaths, they must be shy. He sure looked rather ruffled but clean, thanks!

Great close-up's, T! Next time give the bird some privacy, eh?

I like a man who's not afraid to get a little messy. Bet he felt a lot better for that dip in the water.

Great behavior series. These do make a mean ole blue jay look cute.

NOT an overload at all. I would hate to have missed a single shot!!

Wowee!

You had me hooked at the first photo.
Those feathers!
That personality!

Obviously we don't have these gorgeous feathered friends in Australia - truly a delight.

Thank you for sharing!

I like his grizzled look. I'm wondering, how long did it take him to complete his bath?

*Honest Abe said...

Good shots all. I seldom see them in the birdbath here. Probably because the starlings are always in it. One bird's bugs are bad news for some other birds, I guess.

Tracy said...

Gosh Tex, those are pheonomenal photos..seriously, I love the one with him dipping his tail in ever so careful! What a hoot!

Country Girl said...

OMG. I love this post!!!

I rarely use exclamation points, so this is proof of how much I like.

Debbie said...

ooooohhhhh these are awesome.

see him checking himself out in #1 & #2.

my blue jay's never hop in the bird bath, they only use it for drinking!!!!

Janie2 said...

I love your bird photos, and now the bathing birds to boot! The head feathers look like a crown of feathers as if to say "look at me I am squeeky clean". That must of been fun squeezing out all those water photos! You have not seen the Western Scrub Jays where I live, nor have I seen your Steller Jay. Should we trade?

That is just too cute. He did a really great roadrunner imitation in that one shot.

Stewart M said...

Hi there - what a really splendid set of pictures - like the Road Runner one the best!

Thanks for visiting both of my blogs - as you may be able to tell the longer, wordy one takes a bit of work and its really great to find out that people read it (!) and that they think its of some value.

Cheers - Stewart M.

Great photos Tex! Jays used to not be on my favorites list for birds until the day one shouted out the warning for an incoming hawk and saved our little birdies at the feeder. Now I embrace them and I haven't looked back even if they occasionally "cry wolf, ummm hawk" just to clear the feeders so they can hoover down at the birdie buffet!

You in trouble with my Hubby since I told him your sweet Hubby gifted with that 500. And I just bought the new 50. Does it ever stop?
