I love varmints! I call 'em critters though. Great shots. They always scurry away from me before I can get a good picture. :)

I love the ones where they face in opposite directions. I have the cutest little family of ground squirrels in my yard. A mommy with a litter of four or five. So adorable, but difficult to capture with my camera.

love the photos, especially that last one...he's saying to you-'what are you looking at?'

So cute! Several years ago, we didn't have tree squirrels in our little rural town. The larger town 20 miles away did, though. I think someone "imported" the squirrels one year! Fortunately, they haven't multiplied greatly, but now and then we see one tightrope-walking a utility line above a street.

They sure can be cute!

Happy chubby, little critters they are! And SO cute! Great shots as always! Enjoy your day -- you and the squirrels!

For such trouble makers they sure are cute. Oh...and by the way...it has turned out to be VERY hot here today!

Little rascals .... keep trying at the feeders ... but to no avail! Just have to eat the birds throw aways!

We have golden mantle ground squirrels up this way. They look rather like a squirrel and a chipmunk had a collision. They are very cute

fat and sassy and oh so cute

My dad traps these and lets them go in a nearby forest preserve. The only thing is ... he lets them go in a field rather than in a forest and the hawks generally eat them before they can make a clean escape! Isn't that horrible? Sigh. Sigh. Sigh.

Hi Texwisgirl, At first I thought some of my well-fed squirrels had run West but then I saw that your squirrels have a more apricot tone to the fur on their underside. Our squirrels are pretty light buff to white on their bellies and chests. Have a super nice day. Love the pictures!

Great close ups!! Do your dogs let them that close? Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

i never heard them called scamper rats till i "met" you!!

i just took a photo of a heron, of course i thought of you!! it was all white, super long neck...pic's later...having a great time!!!

I know it's either love them or hate them with these guys, but I love them. I recently went to knock down a nest they'd made in the crotch of my silver maple tree and discovered that it held a baby. Luckily I found that out before I did any damage. great shots, especially that last one. who couldn't love that face???

They do look well taken care of.

They sure are colorful squirrels. Do they have names? We have a habit of naming the regular visitors around here.

Gotta love em. It's great how yours have a reddish tinge to their underbelly's.

I saw a squirrel the other day so fat it had to be a mommy to be squirrel! I mean she was one tummy loaded squirrel LOL.

Staying cool over there. Whew its heating up girly!

Oh my word. These are the cutest little "rats" I have ever seen;) What beautiful tail-dos:))))

So cute! We have sand under our trampoline left over from our above ground pool days and our squirrel likes to get under there and take a sand bath. I wish I had a camera that would catch his antics. It is really fun to watch.

Hubby calls them tree rats, or vermin. When they are in the yard he looks at Rowdy and says, "VERMIN", and Rowdy runs to the door to see them.

These guys are so cute. It's kind of like deer though. I love to look at them, but I also like to eat them!

Scamper Rat? That is cute... we call them tree rats here. :-p nothing like tree rat and rice. hah!

So what did your husband do in Mississippi after Katrina? I remember it well, we went about a week without power in Jackson (128miles from the coast.) she was still a Cat 1 hurricane when she reached us, and WLBT reported 14 foot waves on the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

They are so cute! I love all the photos.

Why does everyone else's squirrels look cuter than mine? :)

Kathy said...

These guys' cousins live in our oak tree and are constantly trying to steal bird seed. They're usually successful!

Little buggers! I waged war on hordes of them last winter when they invaded the walls of my garden shed. They weren't happy when I transported them across a nearby river to a new home but when I explained the alternative.....
