"All the leaves are brown, and the sky is...

...BLUE!"  UGH!
Hot, dry, unforgiving sun.  Intense heat; miniscule/no rain.
Some trees are about 2 months ahead of normal leaf fall.
{sigh}

Poor trees are so stressed from the drought... their shedding their leaves... I sure pray for rain for you!

Some of our trees are developing yellow leaves and dropping them. We might get some rain this weekend.

You guys need some rain or at least a break from the heat!

Lots of rain over here...we could do with some sun-shine :)

I went for a walk! Gonna be in my head all day now. Hope you get relief from the heat soon.

Beautiful blue skies for sure, but rain would be a welcome sight! What a hot summer it has been. I'm hoping for an early autumn.

Sharon said...

I've been seeing it on some of the younger thinner trees. I have a smoke bush in the back yard that I don't think will make it, has been just too dry.

You done it again...put a song in my head! It is tied to a memory that makes me laugh...when I worked at the orchard, we also had strawberries. Well, I had my girls helping me this one week...doing a tedious job..NOT picking...well Lorelei's mom and I got this very song in our head and kept singing it...and her sister kept asking us to please shut up. After the umpteenth time! And we couldn't help but laugh. Now I never hear it without I am transported back to that time in our life.

p.s.--I can't actually carry a tune in a bucket....so can't blame her for wanting us to hush.

I have been raking the yard for several weeks. Every day there are more and more dead leaves. We had a rainstorm but it was too little too late.

Deb said...

It's sad, isn't it?

Farm Girl said...

My trees are doing the same thing. It is like they are just to tired to put up with the heat anymore. So sad.

Susan said...

They get so stressed from the heat. It is sad I know, but they should come back next year. Unless......
I hope it cools soon for you!!!!!!!I really do!

Hmmmm.... yup... sadly this all looks too too familiar. Makes me sad. :(

That is such a sad sight to see! I will have to say that the trees here in West Virginia are already turning and dropping their leaves way ahead of schedule too. My 7 yr old son thinks it's time for me to decorate for Halloween! lol He was a little sneaky and brought down some of the fall decorations! lol

Hope it rains soon!

I drive around here lamenting about how dry it is and I know it's way worse there. the skies are sunny every single day with no rain in sight. I'm wishing for rain for all of us, but for Texas especially.

(GBS) NewsFromTheHill said...

I don't know how Texas is managing to hold on....

You must be just about frazzled out from both the heat and the worry over your trees and plants.

It's high 90's here and no rain for the last 12 days and that probably sounds like HEAVEN to you!

Candy C. said...

You had me singing along!! Got my fingers crossed that ya'll get some rain soon!

It isn't even fun to go to the ranch anymore. With all the oilfield trucks on the farm-to-market road and then so hot and dry when we get there. I read an article this drought is going to have an effect on the land and animals for years to come.

Chatty Crone said...

That is sad - I guess it doesn't mean fall is coming sooner.

Laura~Pretty Pix said...

A very sad sight. Hopefully soon some rain will fall.

I keep watching the news and hoping to see TEXAS with Rain... your drought is heartbreaking. the photo os the deck and leaves is really pretty, even though I know they fell off because they are dry

I was shocked today! We go into "town" north of Houston once a week for The Boy's fiddle lessons and it is brown..like all the trees are dead and dying, big piney woods trees! We are bad here but being close to Lake Livingston has helped with our underground water i guess. It was really a shocking sight...

Lois Evensen said...

Awww, that is so sad about the trees. It's said that more trees die from a lack of water than for any other reason. I hope you don't lose any that are especially important to you.

Leenie said...

Hoping for rain for your part of the world as well. Also hoping when the storms come that they don't bring a lot of lightning to set all the dryness ablaze.

Pricilla said...

It's starting to dry up here now. After our wet spring the grasses are dangerously high

Such a shame. We had 3 full days of rain and it's thundering out there now... so wish I could have sent some to you guys:@)

A rain dance maybe????

It's amazing to see your trees closing down because of the weather. Nature has a great way of surviving... I hope.

I have a few of my oak trees starting to shed some leaves but nothing like what your going through. I hope you get rain soon.

It is a strange feeling to drive down the road and to have brown leaves tumbling across my path. What the heck is fall going to look like around here?

Janie2 said...

The leaves are two months ahead of schedule?! Oh no. What are your temperatures there now? Summer is leaving soon, not looking forward to winter. Oh boy.

Tanna at The Brick Street Bungalow said...

I know, the trees are just making me cry. It is so sad.

My goodness you must be so fed up. I know we get fet up with all the rain we get, I wish I could send you some. Hopefully it will rain for you soon. It can't last forever!!

Bless your heart, honey! We had the same thing happen here 3 years ago... we had no fall colors because all the leaves were already gone.

Oh it must be really dry, by the look at those threes...it must be hard to "live" there, when it gets so warm, and no rain...Hope it change soon :)

Surely we will see rain soon with fall coming, right? I have lost a lot of berry bushes and such. I simply could not water enough to keep them alive in the heat we have had with the drought.

Roan said...

These poor trees are suffering. It's way too early for them to be turning brown. I've got a couple of trees in the back that are starting to lose their leaves, but they always do in August. They are the first to lose them and last to get them. I hope you get some rain soon.

Linda R. said...

Yep, I know all to well about hot dry heat with no rain.. I live it all all summer long.

Kathy said...

I actually saw 13 drops of rain today!

I'm so sorry you're having such a horrible drought. Hopefully, the change in seasons will change the weather pattern.

Hi Theresa, I feel bad after complaining about US needing rain (which we do). BUT--we're not nearly as dry as Texas. It's sad. Hope you get rain SOON.

It is too dry indeed, while it may be the preclude of the autumn? It is moist in my hometown now, almost everyday, there will be a rain for a short time. Wish there would be a rain in your farm soon, I love the pics of your farm, hope all those animals well.

Michelle Renee said...

Praying for rain for you. It's awful how dry Texas is. I hope you'll get some relief soon.

Joycee said...

We have the same situation here, so many trees look just like this. Last winter it was -21, we had floods this spring and this summer 100's for two months...I am wondering what this winter will hold. Hope you get some rain, it's just unbearable.

Nova said...

Hopefully you will get some rain over there. It is too bad when the nature is so dry.

We're seeing the same thing happen here to the smaller trees. I'm getting to the point where I'm really bothered when people complain about rain--City people! :-)

THANK YOU for your kind words and friendship! It helps knowing there are people like you who understand how losing a '4 legged family member' feels!

Stewart M said...

Hi there - I do not what you are going through. Early leaf fall - not that our native trees loose there leaves in the autumn - and days when you think the world has forgotten how to rain.

Saw my first new oak leaves today - so the world is turning. Here's to rain.

Hmmm. Nasty weather pattern there in the Lone Star State. I remember a few years ago when I lived in Plano, we had virtually no rain for about 18 months. Water restrictions. Cracks in everyone's ceilings and walls.

Then one fine day in March it started to pour and it didn't stop for 6 months. You'll be getting plenty of cool weather and rain---it's just a question of WHEN.

Marissa ♥ said...

How depressing to see leaves already dying and falling.
I wish it would rain there. :(

It saddens me to see what's happening to your trees . . . I hope they are OK next year and that you get RAIN!

T.@WhatWeKeep said...

It makes me so upset to see the dying trees here in TX. The flowers have all wilted and died (thank goodness for lantana!) and the grass is burning up, even with daily watering.
I hope your trees survive! Your little friends need them. : )

so,so dry...hope those rains come soon!

I have to say this is awful. I have been though a few droughts and I do know the trees and everything and and everyone suffers but havent seen this. Praying for rain.

georgettesullins said...

Such a drought. My husband had to sell off our small herd back in July. No pasture to sustain them and the pond in front has pretty much disappeared. The back pond is very low.

Cindy said...

This heat and drought is really getting on my nerves! It is got to cool off and rain soon! My trees and stock tanks look like this too! It is awful! I noticed the other day, not one wasp, red ant, fly, yellow jacket or other pesky bugs are around and I have to admit, I miss them!
