great looking barn...love the rain gauge too! :)
T, great barn. That's one big roof!Bet it's hot inside there!
Mmmmm, I wonder if it's full of the sweet smell of hay?
Looks like a BIG barn with a shallow roof, which here would collect snow and collapse under it, I'm afraid. But I guess you don't get a lot of snow in Texas. :)
That is a HUGE roof. That barn must have a heck of a loft!
Barns are worth driving out of the way, for. When I used to drive from Montana to Minneapolis, I'd take the back roads through the Dakotas so I could photograph barns. You are soooo lucky to have such a great barn.
That one sure covers a lot of space.
I love barns! and I love the Texas rain gauge. How true! This is a scorcher.
I love the pitch of the roof on your barn. Classy and love the classic red color.
Nice barn but my eye went to the clouds, and still no rain.
Hi Texwisgirl, Nice barn shots! I really enjoy seeing people's barns. I don't know why but I just do. Here in Tennessee, we have a tourism-related program where some people will paint the side of their barn or the roof of the barn in a quilt pattern. Quite interesting and colorful. There is a sort of guide to this program and tourists can follow certain routes to see these barns. Have a great evening and a hopefully cooler day tomorrow. I will do a virtual rain dance and also send up a prayer for a few drops for y'all!
Does that thing cover, like, an acre or something? It looks huge!
That is a great barn!
Nothing more mysterious than a good barn! Hope you're staying cool. :)
Oh my, I need one of those rain gauges.
Love barns in all shapes, sizes and colors but barn red is my favorite.
That's a beautiful barn, T. Would that be considered a horse barn? Great condition. :)
Is it being used? It looks pretty deserted, probably used for the hay you guys won't get this summer :(
Cool barn and nice photos! There's a lot of tin on that roof.
That is a huge barn, the ground is looking very dry - no sign of any rain yet?
Love old barns etc.. they have such a story to tell. Great shots!
It certainly is full of barn charm and looks like it has a good roof too.
Nice sized barn! So do you have two barns? One gray?
Great looking barn. I love the roof line.
Fast forward to late October---if you haven't ever cooked out at night and slept in a barn afterward, preferably when you got rain on the tin roof at 2:00 AM....now, THAT is livin'!But don't try it in August. Ha.
I love it...that is a beautiful barn! Would love to hear rain on a tin roof...this summer has been so dry...

there's a barn here that is sided with those pressed metal ceiling tiles that were in all the building long ago. we call it the 'quilted barn'. I'll have to post a picture of it.

Someone's gone to the expense to keep it around for awhile longer with that new tin roof! Good for them!
Great character and gotta love those metal roofs ... seem to last forever!
Imagine the good games kids big or small could play in there! What a place that I'm sure tells lots of secrets! :-)

many many many moons ago, my friends had a barn similar to this, we used to sit up in the hayloft and watch down below, her brothers milking cows and tossing hay around. this jogged my fond memories

That's a beauty!
Oh, I so enjoyed this one...like those windows, and like that it is read and showing wear, but it still has a decent roof and should last a while.
What a big barn, it also looks very different as ours, but I like it!
I love the windows beside the haymow - you made it look like its looking at the world going by, remembering the past...
What a fabulous barn. :-)NoteworthyMusings
Big and beautiful. It seems like the bard is quite old, judging from the walls and roof, but at the same time, it is standing tall and standing strong. Maintenance should keep it like that for years and years.-Will Peartin
