The birdbath IS getting a lot of business

In this heat and drought, the birdbath gets a lot of action.
Cardinal and red-bellied woodpecker.

Cowbird, cardinal and chickadee.

The chickadee is losing ground here to the bigger birds.
Ratty teenage cardinal and painted bunting.

Those are some cute pictures! They look like they're asking each other "are you from around here?" *hehe*

She almost looks to be saying "You better stay out of my bird bath!" Boy that teenager is surely in the scraggly stage.

Towarzystwo ptasie się zbierało, bo musie pić chciało. Przyszedł jednak taki duży, bo też był spragniony i całe towarzystwo rozgonił :-))). Pozdrawiam

That bunting is amazing! So is that last burd.....Marigold!

I'm so jealous of the birds you get there. We only get seagulls, crows and magpie's. They have all managed to chase all the wee birds off.:(
Great pictures.

If this kind of weather goes on here also, for a little longer, then we ll be in worse state than your feathered friends .

Nice birds in your drinking vessel. And there was Marigold!

I was wondering if the dogs didn't hit that low birdbath every now and again.

Great pics T, the watering hole (bird bath) is a bird magnet with the dry weather you are having. And Marigold steals the show.

I loved all those visitors; especially Marigold lol

Susan said...

I love your blog!!! I agree with Larry Ostby, Marigold steals the show!

Miss E, age 3, after seeing these photos thinks we need a bird bath! We live in a "birding" area on the prairie so who knows what we'll attract. Marigold is sweet!

Madge said...

I really enjoyed your shot of the three Cardinals, the young one looked 'scruffy,' while getting its adult feathers... and of course the new breed of bird you captured for the first time... Daisy!! wink.wink.wink

A Quiet Corner said...

Does Marigold need a pool? I mean come on...drinking bath water....wonder if it tastes like chicken broth with all that heat you're getting!!!...:)JP

I didn't realize that your bird bath I have long admired was so low to the ground. I wondered if the hounds made use of this feature. The last photo answered that for me. If only us humans of different cultures could get along as well as these birds of different species. Okay, I know. they squabble with each other. It was only a vision I had.

Fun, delightful shots and I do love the last one! The birds do seem to be conversing!!

What a cute, short bird bath... perfect for Marigold!! I just got a little one too but haven't put it out yet. I'm sure Hunter will be the one hitting that one all the time!

Love all your birds and I know they're happy for that little drink you provide for them!

That one little bird is about to back right off the edge. My cat Susie likes to jump on the edge of my birdbath to drink. I always think she is going to tip it over but she doesn't.

lisaschaos said...

Marigold cracks me up, why not right? lol I have birds taking baths in my dogs' water dish, lol.

I love that 2nd shot - it seems Ms Cardinal is putting on a show for the others and enjoying their attention. :)

wow, that painted bunting? is amazing!

They seem a little more tolerant of each other, more willing to share cross-species. Except the crows who are big bullies.

Looks like a bird party... til the party crasher came:)

I'm catching up after time away.
You always seem to find something interesting at that birdbath.
It is sad to see how the drought is drying the land. Imagine the wildlife with no alternate source of water, how they must suffer.

Nova said...

Thanks for showing...I've never seen a female cardinal before.

....and for sure not a "marigold-bird" *hihi*

I have bird envy...but am planning on FINALLY taking your advice and hang my hummingbird feeders today. (It took me awhile to gather the necessary supplies. (I don't really do anything quickly.) I've seen them flitting around in the trees by the pond so I know they are there.
