That crow looks like he is sneaking up on the squirrel... even looks mischevious. I kept expecting a picture of the crow attacking the squirrel!

You have the most colorful water color action in blogland! I love your red-bellied woodpecker ... mine hasn't been coming around. And I think he so beautiful!

Lois Evensen said...

Looks like a drinking party to me. That red guy couldn't hold his booze and fell in.

Seriously, I love all of your birds and critters. You get such great pics!

It's hard work getting some water, especially with a squirrel!

Mike said...

While the cardinal was practicing his baptism technique Mr. Crow hesitantly approached for his annointment. ;)

Jill said...

That cardinal makes me laugh! Love them all.

Sharon said...

That poor cardinal, must have been overheated! I think that crow was thinking that the squirrel was hogging the water. I wonder what goes on in their minds.....

Elizabeth Grimes said...

What an entertaining bird bath!

Ellie said...

It's a bit like a meeting place for them all. Really pretty colourful birds. Great shots as usual.

Paula said...

I think that cardinal is a senior citizen. Give him lots of benefits, he deserves them.

Sandra said...

OMG i can't imagine what they are all saying to each other, every specie all at one time. hilarious. and the crow made me think "boot skootin boogie" ROFL there is even a bird in the pond with the squirrel.

Your posts are one of the highlights of my day!

Barb said...

What a life-saver you have provided for these beautiful creatures! I love all the action at your birdbath!

Kerry said...

Everybody looks like they're having a fine time at the bath today, very civil conversations going on. Except for that last one:

Crow:'Scuze me?"
Squirrel: Can't you see I'm busy?"
Crow: 'SCUZE ME!! I'm THIRSTY!
Squirrel: Yeah well, you can kiss my b---.

Buttons said...

Oh these are cool unlike your weather. I notice the only green grass you have is under the water cooler. Hope it cools down and rains soon for you. B

JK said...

Those are some thirsty critters. Mildly surprised by the woodpecker or Flicker

Mom of M&Ms said...

LOL.. I think the birds in our neighborhood move to your house. have seen known of them but the darn crackles for two weeks..

Beautiful shots and they all get a long, except that crow.

Oh WOW! What a great series! You might have to get a bigger water cooler! Love that Cardinal and Painting Bunting.

Samantha said...

I am always floored by the amount of wildlife that utilizes the baths! No matter how dry, they barely use mine....creeps!

Giga said...

Cudowna seria zdjęć. Wiewiórce też się chciało pić, ale wyraźnie nie podobał się to czarnemu ptakowi. Pozdrawiam

Becca said...

You capture the best shots of your little garden friends! I love to watch our little birds in the bird bath, but none are as colorful as these!

Johi said...

Awesome! My bird bath has wasps and mosquitoes.

Happier Than a Pig in Mud said...

I've always seen squirrels at the feeders, never in the birdbath:@)

Chatty Crone said...

Looks like you need some more bird - or I mean squirrel or darn I mean crow baths out there in Hot Texas

Here I Am/Carrie said...

Love seeing all the wonderful colorful birds that come to your feeders and bird bath. Also catching up on blogs here I missed. Sorry I don't comment on them all. But when life gets busy I don't get a chance to visit often but try and at least see the blogs I missed. I hope your fencing is holding the horse out. Over the years I too have used so many different things even that orange fencing. Great shots of the bird that hit your window. I am so glad he eventually flew away. Well better go now. Got to make that dreaded trip into town.

Tricia said...

the Cardinal sure is thorough, isn't he! heheheee =0

Your water cooler series is the best. Your cardinal is so much more social than ours. So is your woodpecker. Great menagerie you've got there.

Lovely selection to the watering place.
I love that woodpecker with his red flash on the head.

A Quiet Corner said...

That little Finch is tilting his head looking at the Woodpecker, thinking, "how in Heaven's name can he do anything with such a big nose!"...LOL! The Painted Bunting is saying to the Cardinal, "Uh Dude, ya want to save some for me?"...:)JP

I love how they all get in together for a splash and a sip.

What kind of bird is the red headed black coated fellow, in the firs two images?

xx F

PS: I've just read the previous comment, is it a woodpecker?

Tis the place to meet, I'd say! I love how the Cardinal just PLUMPS himself down as if he owns it. I'd love to know what the first bird is with the red splot and long black beak. And the colorful one next to the Cardinal. Just gorgeous.

Dearest TexWisGirl,

The whole series was splendid but I especially liked the crow telling off the squirrel.

Ain't it great that they all get along so well... I love the soft-shoe the crow is doing around the squirrel. We could learn something here.

Must be your lack of rain that makes you so fortunate to have all those beautiful visitors around the watering tank?!!?

A smile escaped my lips. Such lovely critters come to the water basin one after another. This is a lovely picture book without narrative.
