And a blurry hand-held shot of it the following night through swirling clouds.

they are both fabulous but that second one...well I look at it and think "damn, I wish I would have taken that". very very fine TWG.

All that's missing is a witch on a broom wearing a black hat and the sound of a howling coyote! Very nice!

Farm Girl said...

It was beautiful that night. I wanted to take it's picture too but I knew that I wouldn't be able to get much of a shot. Your picture is just gorgeous. I really like the one with the clouds. Just the right look for eerie.

Mama-Bug said...

Beautiful! I haven't gotten a nice moon shot yet.

Mike said...

All them clouds and not a drop of water.

(GBS) NewsFromTheHill said...

Shame on me! I didn't even see the full moon!

Oh well your gorgeous shots make up for what I missed!

Any rain yet over there?

I love it when it is so bright you can see clearly in the night.

Just looking at those shots makes my fangs grow 3", my hair grow 12", my eyes glaze over and my id explode.

Don't be afraid.....

What great shots! What settings did you use for the first one?

Sometimes the hand held shot adds a little mystery. Mine add the mystery of what is it? LOL!

Nice lunar shot! (BTW .. I LOVE your Texas rain gauge.. I had to show that to my husband!)

Your handheld shot is better than any "stabilized" photo I've ever taken. Love those colors! Can you tell me exactly what your technique was for the single moon shot?

Lois Evensen said...

Downright romantic! Just cuddle up and watch the moon. :)

Well done, T! I never have much luck at snapping the moon. Care to give us some tips? :)

Debbie @ Swampbilly Ranch said...

Great shots! Looks like Halloween. I just noticed the "Hell Fire Hot" added to your header. Too Funny!

Karrie said...

I am sure you know this trick already, just in case you don't...for hand held shots, to reduce the "shake factor" take a breath in, let it out halfway and hold it while you snap the shot. That helps you to remain steady. Old "gunman" trick ;)

Beautiful moon!

The first show reminded me of Frank Borman's photo of earth from Apollo 8. I think of that crew often when looking at the Moon!
