"One of these things is not like the other..."

Driving in the area, I spotted these three mares munching on a round bale.  That sing-song line from Sesame Street popped into my head.

Not exactly appreciating my presence.
So I went on my way.  A few miles further down the road, I saw some hay bales.
Look!  There's one just her size!  :)

The little guy appears to be giving you a dirty look, like "Hey, quit taking pictures of my butt". The small hay-bale, on the other hand, is indifferent.

Wow, that is a dirty look he's giving you! Ha...a cute little bale of hay! Uh-oh now I'm going to have that Seasame Street song playing in my head...

a pony sized hay bale, how cute is that. love the look over the shoulder at the crazy lady with the camera. a first for me to see the fencing holding the bale together. great idea, they can just pull it out the holes and it keeps from scattering it every where.

But how cute are they?

Knowing the need for hay right now, it does look like that little guy is saying "this is mine, go on down the road".
Good picture!

I can only imagine how I would feel if I were outside naked, eating my lunch, and some person with an insatiable camera kept trying to get a Kodak moment of me.

That is the second time in 12 hours that I have heard reference to that song.......... how do I get it out of my head?

They are adorable, and these shots are great!

Surprise!!! Those hay bales were always there but it took your sharp eye to make the comparison. Munch away oh ye with our own fly swatters.

I like the miniature bale or roll. I don't see hay bales anymore. They are all rolled up like these. I never saw a small one like this. Maybe for that small horse?

(GBS) NewsFromTheHill said...

He is certainly a tiny little guy!
Thank goodness their owners got them some hay. I know that hay for pasture horses n the summer isn't usually a necessity but with the drought it's essential!

I'm always amazed that children gravitate to the person closest in age to them. This may have to do with size. So cute! :) Love seeing the world through your/his eyes.

Haha! Only you would make that connection. ;)

I can relate to his attitude!! Dynamite comes in small packages!! Love the little hay bale.

Nice photos of the horses, even the one that does not face the camera.

Farm Girl said...

At least there is hay to bale. I think though is that tiny horse at that she would look like the bale herself. :) She does look like she hasn't missed many meals.

Lois Evensen said...

The little guy reminds me of the comedian (can't remember his name) who asks, "Whas you lookin' at?"

A "portable" bail of hay, for a "portable" pony. Have you noticed that, amongst humans too, the shorty ones are usually the grouchiest?

T, cute little one! Horse & hay!
Saw one of those the other day. It was in someones front yard! They are quite popular around here.
Now I'll be humming that all day!

wildlifewatcher said...

Hi Texwisgirl, Yes, that is exactly pony-sized! I know that the round bales are easier to use because of tractor spike-style fork lift used by tractors, but it is hard to get used to seeing the giant bales. Mostly in CA, it is the older rectangular 75 lb. bales used. Have a great day!

Michaele said...

Oh that is cute! Love his spots too.

After seeing your comment on Peggy's blog about commenting probs, I figured I'd come visit. What do I see? Sesame Street. I had recently used the same reference in some of my posts. How strange. OH, and your advice on commenting worked out well for me.
I see your form has the follow up email which I like.
Nice blog. I'll be back.

Montanagirl said...

HaHa...You are just too funny...it certainly is just right in size for that pony!

Is that a pony or some kind of miniature?

(I should know this answer, being that I was born and raised in the state known for horses. LOL)
