You know it's hot when...

a squirrel takes a soak.

His respiration and heartbeat caused little ripples in the water.

Tub hog!

So cute!!!!!!!!! I don't blame him at all. I'm in the water every single day and into the night. The only thing better colder water with ice cubes. :)

Clint said...

Dang! Couldn't you at least put a bar of soap out there?

Mama-Bug said...

Bless his furry little heart! Never seen a squirrel doing that before.

I've never seen a squirrel take a dip before. He's one smart fella.

Snappy Di said...

Good thing you keep it filled with water. Poor creatures appreciate it I'm sure... just a little bit of paradise for them this summer.

Michaele said...

So glad you gave him a tubby. He reminds me of a cat in these photos. Well, not the bath part, but the arm over the side part. haha

Mom of M&Ms said...

you gave me quite a laugh this morning.. I think you need to rename the ranch.. Like "animal, reptile and bird day spa"

Aw, c'mon! There was plenty of room in that tub for "several" birds! Hilarity.

That was amazing. That is one squirrel with a lot of personality. Love it.

I can't stop laughing, i am really laughing out loud, this is absolutely the cutest squirrel shot ever. poor little guy, so glad he has his own "Riviera" in your little piece of heaven. i assume the dogs did not SEE this.

Your water basin looks like oasis for critters. Under unrelenting heat these days here, I'd like to soak in the water. The squirrel is lovely.

Unbeliavable!! I cannot take my eyes off of these pictures.

The 6th one, with him totally relaxed, tummy and leg in the water, the other arm down the border of the "pool" is a picture to be sent to a magazine for a prize winning cover!

These are a riot! That poor bird seems so shocked at the site of that squirrel in the tub.

Your squirrel buddy is too funny! I love how he's just hanging out and resting on the bird bath. At least the birds are nice enough to share!

It's a squirrel sauna! :)

Kjell T. Evensen said...

Great. This must be the first time I have ever seen a Squirrel taking a "bath."

I think they are referred to as "Bathing Cuties!"

troutbirder said...

It's hot allright. Here too! No squirrels in the bird bath yet though.

Excuse me, any chance I could get a cold beer?

I've never see a squirrel 'lounge' in water before, amazing!

Arija said...

Thank you for being such a staunch friend and visitor. You have no idea how much that means to me.

No wonder the squirrel is hogging the bird bath with the temperatures you are having, like ours in the summer and I know how totally enervating that can be.

Great captures of your little hogger.

Flora said...

He looks like he enjoyed himself ! Very cute.

Sylvia K said...

What fun shots for the day! And what a cute little bugger he is -- even if he is hogging the bird bath! With the temps you've been having I'd do the same thing!! Have a good day, stay cool!!

You know, these picturs of these squirrels-- is it the same squirrel in most pictures, or do you just have many many running around?

That's what I'm talkin' about! LOL! I expected him to be plopped down right in the middle, but he was nice enough to leave room for others. When it's Texas hot, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Wow, really good shots, and funny too:))

Ms. Becky said...

I've never seen a squirrel bathing, but I guess if it's hot enough, well, why not? when I start whining about the heat and humidity here I remind myself of what it must feel like there, and I'm straightened out. I guess a part of me thinks "well, if they live there, they're used to it", but from what I'm hearing, this summer is exceptionally hot hot hot and dry dry dry. hope you're managing to keep cool, and I'm still hoping the skies will open up one of these days and a gentle, night-long rain will fall.

Robin said...

T. great shots. I love the way his little arm is hanging over the edge!

I think your squirrels are little reincarnated beings...pretty soon they are going to use those opposable thumbs and start plugging in A/C units on your outdoor electric outlets - better check next months utility bill...
