Ranch gates and fences

I do admire a good ranch gate.  And a good, sturdy fence.  This is one of my favorites in the extended 'hood.

Now that's a cool fence! I miss seeing the names of ranches. No one names farms around here.

Nicely designed fence and gate. Great post!

Samantha said...

Oh that is a great fence...love it!

Katie @Pinke Post said...

Sturdy and classy! We are fence free on our land...other than barbed wire to keep cattle out of our front yard which sometimes works and and sometimes not. I would love to create a big "Pinke Post" entrance though. :)

Judy said...

Oh man do I like it!

The White Farmhouse said...

I want a ranch gate! How cool is that?! Someone spent alot of time designing and creating that one.

That's really cool! Great choice.

Very nice fence. I always enjoy looking at iron work and signs when the vendors are at the fair. It would be nice, but too many other projects at the top of the list.

Looks like a strong one but I miss the old school symbols of the family name up on the fence of the ranch.

This is a nice fence/gate/escape route. Had to find out about Zip! lol

Nice to see you made a gate too! When we moved here to the Hollow, I bugged the Prez until he went out and found an old cattle gate for the end of the driveway...most of the neighbors had one and I wanted to fit in!...:)JP

Gillian Olson said...

Interesting fence and gate. It's the sort you stop and that notice of.

Larry Ostby said...

The wheels are a great touch. Self explanatory and unique. Nice shots Theresa.

Sall's Country Life said...

I know what you mean, I always admire a great looking entrance like this one. It shows the owner's pride in their homestead!

Lisa @ Two Bears Farm said...

LOL!! I just noticed Zip's prominent picture. Someone said they came to visit from here and I was like huh? So I came over to see why - too funny!

The Wife of a Dairyman said...

What a great entrance to that ranch...love the wheels in the fence:)

Michaele said...

Nice to see Zip has come to visit. Love a good strong fence. This will outlast many generations of ranch owners.

Annette said...

I particularly like that last shot. We love ranch gates too. Nothing makes us slam on the brakes, back up, and ooh and ahh quicker than a neat gate.

Sylvia K said...

Terrific fence! I can see why you like it, too! It does look SO dry! I'm amazed every time I see one of your photos of the area! Wish I could send you some green from Seattle! Have a great weekend, Theresa!

There's a place not far from where we live in OR that specializes in ranch gates and entrance art. I'm so jealous when I drive past it: galloping horses, bucking broncs, wagon wheels. Makes me want to live on a ranch so bad.

Bob Bushell said...

Ther Iron Wheel is very good, the ways that they can put them in the fence is really really clever.

Betty Manousos@ Cut and Dry said...

i like it, too!
brilliant fence!

Faye said...

Whoever built this fence was pretty no nonsense--this one has a job to do, but still doesn't miss the opportunity to do a bit of subtle branding in advertising.

Gail Dixon (Louisiana Belle) said...

Love the name and the sign!

A wonderful way to make the entrance to your property your own.

I have an image in my head of the gates to the Run*A*Round Ranch...featuring Zim and Thelma.

I'm daft have a lovely weekend.

THat is quite lovely and detailed.

James said...

I like this a lot! I probably would have drove by without taking pictures and regretted it later.

Montanagirl said...

I really like this a lot as well. Fences add their own personal charm to photos.

Paula said...

Many people in our area have the neat country gates. John doesn't because he doesn't own the ranch he runs cattle on now. One of my favorites is a replica of the Alamo. I did gates at one time in my AOL Journal.

Cheryl @ The Farmer's Daughter said...

Now there is a cool looking fence just right for a ranch! Love it!

That's a fine fence but somewhere in Texas there are at least 2 buckboards up on blocks!

TnTConnect said...

Love the ranch gate! We don't have many in our area, but the ones I have seen; I usually take notice of...definately appreciate the workmanship and traditional history of them.

KAT said...
