I might imagine those little critters gobble up a lot too?

great shots, our tree rats are going nuts lately

Pesky but cute. I didn't mind a few getting there share of sunflower seeds from the feeders. Until I couldn't keep up.... & counted 17 one spring days. Then I resorted to a firearm and a military intervention. Yes I did.

your photos of these precious varmints are never JUST another tree rat post. I love them, all of them. he is beyond cute just laying there, clinging to the tree limb... maybe I could write a country song about this guy...

eileeninmd said...

These tree varmints seem like they would be great at gymastics. Great photos of the little piggies.

Ruth's Photo Blog said...

Cute yes,but also a pain around the bird feeders. I have an agreement with them, leave my bird feeders alone and I will leave the squirrels alone.LOL

Woody said...

Yea, there's something about those eyes that melt your heart.

trav4adventures said...

Awwww...they are cute, even though they pig out on the bird seed!

Kathy said...

The acorns are falling at our place and the squirrels are in squirrel heaven storing them up.

Mom of M&Ms said...

how do you keep with with filling the feeders for these guys

Dearest TexWisGirl,

That is a cute variety of the squirrel! Love the orange brown coloration on its fur. They for sure are smart for spotting their gourmet food!
Love to you,

Mariette

They kill me with the hang! How do they do it? Though some mornings I feel like I need that hang too to get these ol' bones moving. Maybe they are onto to something? Nah. I never give 'em credit. NEVER! ;)

Mike said...

Them rascals aggravate me to death. I've had many a feeder destroyed by squirrels. They hang on a tree trunk, just out of reach, and tease Higgins to the point he won't even bother with them, anymore.

There's only one way I enjoy them...Fried.

Haven't seen many squirrels here lately. They must be hibernating for the winter (or the cat ate them all). Yours are very cute.

Melodie said...

Sorry... squirrels are not on my cute list...they ate all my pecans off my tree!

Jill said...

Adorable yes! Pests yes! Cute photos...yes!

Susan said...

Yep, stinking cute is right!!!!

It's nice that your tree rats keep you entertained. Ours are ground rats and they aren't entertaining at all as they gobble up all the chicken feed. When I lived in the Bay Area I had some little black squirrels on my property. They were cute. We don't have those here.

Sharon said...

I agree, very cute!

Superb! Great photos and so funny:)

They are indeed adorable. I love squirrels and I love how you portray them in you wonderful photos.

Great photos . . . love "the flip!"

Abe Lincoln said...

We stopped the foolishness with a lid. They come down the bungee cord to the lid and when they try to go over the edge, they can't hang on and fall to the ground.

Great underbelly shots! I think she is cute, too. =D

I figure these critters drive your doggies wild! Bet they get more than they miss! Ah, life on the ranch. Just get rid of those scorpions! Those things are nasty. Margie

It's a squirrel not a rodent. Theresa, it LIVES there.

The flip is my personal favorite, you guru of commentators. Next you'll have them doing a fashion show on the runway. Love it.

Ok, 1st of all, the 'tree varmint' made me laugh out loud... perfect name for them, too, btw!
2nd of all, they really are stinkin cute! LoL!
They'll just do anything to get into the food... I like the shots you've posted before where he/she's literally through the holes in the feeder... what characters! =)

happy weekend =)))

Ellie said...

They are very flexible aren't they? And oh so very cute especially the shot of him/her keeking in in the tree. Lovely!!!

I like this guy's rich, warm color. Ours around here are mostly gray with an occasional almost black one. His antics make a fine series for you to shoot.

Cute is as cute does... I took down my feeders a couple of years ago because I got sick of feeding the squirrels. No matter what we did, they could empty one in no time and the birds were out of luck. They are ingenious (and, ok, cute) little devils. I am going to try again in a different spot. Wish me luck.

Andrew said...

Your little squirrels are lovely to see... so much character..

Squirrels are cute, but I'm afraid of the rabies and other things they carry. You got some great photographs of him though.

Hi there - 3 comments in one go - I think that's a record!

I'm not sure how long I looked at the pelicans until I saw that there were two birds not one!

Have a good week!

I love the tail in the second photo... so detailed and intricate like a mandala or something!

My mom got so mad at me this morning. The dogs were going crazy at the patio door. Turns out there were squirrels chomping some...umm... treats I left out there for them. It took them a whole day to find it! Inside I was cheering, but outside I was smart enuogh to look chaste.

Biggest clowns in the neighborhood! Acrobats and jokers. Alot of fun to watch!

Desiree said...

Such lovely bold colouring your little squirrel is sporting. Ours are imports and of the grey variety. We have a greedy little pair that visit our bird feeders daily. They love unshelled peanuts so we've bought a couple of bags to ration out, hoping they'll leave some seed and suet blocks for the birds! Ours even devour the sugar water we provide for the different nectar feeders. They are so cute, though!

R.Ramakrishnan said...

Superb shots of the little rascal! They look cute but can prove to be great nuisance.

LOL being the wisconsin girl you are, arent there any hardware stores down there that pay 2 bucks a tail? Im sure you could convince those guys to give up their tails for sunflower seeds...

Your squirrel photos are so amusing! Even though I deal with the "grey ones" here. They harass all my birds and my husband. Great photo...

I agree! Adorable!

These guys are so fun to photograph, aren't they? Great set. We had a squirrel taunting my dog from the neighbor's roof this morning, flicking his tail and chattering. Drives my dog nuts.

Charlotte said...

Great photography--fun. I have a couple of cats that enjoy squirrel snacks. We find a tail at least once a week, but the supply never runs short.

Deb said...

what a little cutie pie....

They do like to show off and act cute. I swear the little varmints will pose if they think they will be rewarded with nuts.

You know as I was looking at your pictures - I think our squirrels have a white underneath - I have to go take another look. I know they eat that birdseed. Sandie

Congrats on POTW with these great shots! My husband spoils our squirrels no end, puts out pecans and walnuts for them (the ones I have set aside to bake pies with, so he has only himself to blame this Turkey day if he is pieless)...you certainly know your way around a camera1!
