A celebration - for rain!

Beginning Saturday night, Run*A*Round had one full day of rain!  We haven't seen steady rain since last spring!  Technically, it did have several intermissions and sprinkles, but I'm not going to complain!  We received 3 1/2 inches - enough to create mud, puddles and some run-off into the pond!  I'm thrilled!  I wish it would continue, but alas, as of this morning, the sprinkles ended.

To celebrate a day of rain, and alleviate a little canine cabin fever, I made up a batch of peanut butter bones last night.  Just some old hollow shanks with peanut butter stuffed into them and a few dog biscuits crammed into the ends to make it more challenging for the pups.  I believe they liked them.

The dogs are pretty good about cleaning up the peanut butter smears.

I just wish they'd help with the muddy tile floor!  But I'm not gonna complain about the mud and dirty dog blankets.  We've had rain!

And this morning after the rain abated, the dogs were back to pillaging the wood pile for varmints.  Mud and wet dog towels for everyone!  Yippee!  Just life in the Run*A*Round house with 4 big, happy, country dogs...  :)

Woohoo on the rain!

Love your new header! Nicely done.

What a perfect dog treat for those big dogs!! With all the competition they don't want to leave a speck of peanut butter anywhere--LOL!

After not having rain for so long I would have been out dancing and spinning in the rain drops with the dogs and contributing to the muddy floors myself. ;)

We are loving it, too! And it's finally sweater weather. The dogs look awfully happy with their pbb's.
How did you celebrate?

Glad to hear it rain. It's been raining here since yesterday morning non-stop. We have flood warnings oh yeah. The bones you made, it doesn't make your dogs sick. I've been looking for something to give Smuckers every now and then to chew on. I hate the rawhides. :)

Good news indeed. When we came back thru Texas from visiting the Grands in Arizona it all looked awfully parched and some burnt out area too. The peanut butter is favorite here as well. My Baron gets his meds hidden in a big dollop of the stuff.... :)

Well, I was going to congratulate you for baking, then re-read and saw this involved no baking. But - thanks for the idea! Second - I saw where another blogger from Texas got a lot of snow. I was wondering if you got moisture. Good to hear. Third - you are so dang cute in that header picture!

Yay rain!! Those dogs sure loved their bones -- and made quite a mess too. Nice of them to clean up after themselves.

Great that you got all that rain. We've just had a month and a half with only a couple of sprinkles then yesterday it rained properly - nearly 2 inches in 24 hours. We can both rejoice in the wet! Now I'd really like it to dry up again - we've got several shorebird counts to do in the next few days and they are a bit too hard in the rain!

Soooo glad to hear you finally got some moisture - and a goodly amount at that! Cute doggie pictures too.

I used to take a big wad of PB and smear it on the roof of my lab's mouth. It was all fun and games until the drooling started.

Glad to hear you got some measurable rain, my trip last week was a success. I like your Christmas card in the blog header!!

Hooray! for your rain! We got rain last week here in Okie-land and I know how you feel. Today it's freezing temps with little snow spits. Probably be down your way tomorrow.

Never thought to stuff bones with peanut butter to keep the pups entertained. There gonna wear their tongues out working on getting the goodies out!

Like the New Header pic.

Ha! Your babes do look like they're in their element. What a great idea for hollow bones! It's been raining here since Friday and finally stopped tonight. Our priest asked us for a moment of silence Sunday morning to thank God for the rain. A little mud and mess for the exchange of moisture is well worth it! Wish you had gotten as much as we did. I'd gladly share. :)

Hoorah for the rain! I've got friends in TX who compete in trail rides. They had to cancel the second day of the weekend ride because the trails were too slippery.... but you know no one complained! They were just too happy for the rain!
Glad you got your share and I hope there are more muddy paws in your future this month!!

Dogs are pretty good at cleaning up most kitchen messes. I dropped an egg once, our Golden Retriever promptly disposed of it, shell and all! And he always kept the crumbs out from under the lower edge of the cabinets. I miss that dog!

We have a few wet and smelly dogs and towels here as well! We measured 4 inches and the drizzle lasted all day here. Rain is a Good thing! So thankful for all we got and I heard weatherman say possible flurries tomorrow. I'm not so excited about how cold it will be the next few days though.

Desiree said...

Lovely header! Wonderful news about the rain. I can relate so well to a houseful of wet dogs and muddied paws and a never ending stream of wet towels and dogs' bedding! What would we do without a stock of treats to keep them entertained for at least 30 minutes :)

Carole Meisenhelter said...

looking like the best treat ever! Do they have to hang out till the next rains for more peanut-buttery lamb shanks?

I love that new header too.

Awesome!
My dogs are envious ;)

Can you believe that I have been in Germany for 3 months and can count the days with a wee bit of rain on one hand?

And before I got to Kuwait again, they had one week of rain, but now I am left rainless again, sigh :(

Hope you get some more from above, but not too much, right?

SquirrelQueen said...

Hooray for the rain!
It looks like the treats were a big hit with the dogs. If the mud tasted like peanut butter I'm sure they would be willing to do their part.
