December 2011 Giveaway!

{deep breath}  Okay.  Earlier this year, a certain 'friend' of mine encouraged (or dared) me to draw a wood duck.  I have been putting it off as the subject is very intimidating (there's a lot going on with that bird!)  I lifted/borrowed a very colorful photograph off the Internet to use as my model.  I figured I'd try it in magic markers.  Well, I got the colors alright, but the refinement and control I'm used to with colored pencils just isn't possible with markers.  I added colored pencil to this, too, but I hope you will forgive the roughness that remains in this month's drawing.

So without further ado (or excuses from me), here's this month's drawing giveaway.  A wood duck drake done in magic marker and some colored pencil, framed in an 8x10 frame.
If you would like to win this drawing, you must:

1.  Be a public follower of this blog (use the Google Friend Connect button on the sidebar to sign up to follow if you haven't already done so)
and
2.  Leave a comment on this post saying you'd like to win or be entered in this giveaway, etc.

I'll pull a winner in a week or so.

This drawing's a bit different than my norm, but sometimes you've just got to push yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new.  Just keep pushing me, y'all!  {exhale}

This giveaway opportunity is now closed!

This has the WOW factor for sure. Personally, I think you should use magic markers more often, especially when you have a subject as colorful as this duck. Beautiful! I would like to say don't put me in the drawing, but I just can't. lol

Just look at the lack of your usual style with refinement and control, as an impressionistic piece. I think it is very nice and almost tempted to have you toss my name in the hat this time. Well done Theresa.

Bravo to you! I admire anyone who is willing to share art with the public. Takes some grit to do it because when you've done the creating, it's scary to think that people will not like it. I DO! Such bold colors and using a media that's hard to control. I too love colored pencils--have all varieties and love to use them for a bit of color wash with pen and ink drawings.

Bob Bushell said...

Yeah, I've got room on my wall for a Wood Duck, put me in your bag.
