The Hooded Mergansers again

This time in a bit brighter light.  Still hard to catch 'em up close, though.  Shy as can be!

They are so beautiful. Looks like you have to hide in the tall grass to capture them. Margie

So colorful! What a find. :)

C. Joy said...

It looks so peaceful at your place. Do you have a blind to sit in and take these beautiful pictures? Or are you so 'at one' with the nature that they will pose for you like that?

Karen said...

They are so pretty, we don't have ducks like that around here.. mostly mallards.

Clint said...

The good news is that you guys have water. Nice shots!

Jill said...

They are so colorful and interesting!

They are a good looking pair.

So pretty! We have had an interesting-looking duck in our water recently, but I haven't been able to get a photo. He keeps diving under the water whenever I aim the camera in his direction!

Even far away, you can see how beautiful they are. You need a hunting blind by the pond. Hubby has one and I think I'll set it up by one of Bro O's ponds to see what I can find, come spring. I'm a mild weather bird watcher.

That drake is quite stunning, he looks like he should be in NASCAR with those racing stripes ;-)

Kathy said...

They are such pretty creatures. When I first glanced at the thumbnail of your first picture on my blog's sidebar, I thought Thelma Jean was taking a dip in the pond! And my thought was, oh, my goodness, it's too cold to go skinny-dipping!

HI Teresa...Hooded Mergansers are not easy to get close to ...that I know, but great job!! : }
At the ocean they are less timid for some reason, but here on the river...FORGET IT!!

I want to be like them and float through the rest of the week. Unfortunately four day work weeks mean more and more work. No floating going on here! Have a happy day.

These are pretty special visitors to your pond. Thanks for letting us have a look at them with you! I think you're many friends have the right idea about a blind. Might want to have a long lens in the 300mm plus range also.
