I love how sometimes the drakes look plastic with their ultra-sheen.
| Yes, some of these shots were taken before the orange fencing was removed. |
I am happy to see waterfowl returning and always happy for the reflections, too.

These guys (and gals) have such great personalities!
Has to be a joy to your heart!! Oh, they are so beautiful! Thank you. blessings ~ tanna
Pretty shots. We had ducks in our yard, right up by the steps to our deck yesterday. I took a couple of pictures, but the colors are so drab...well, except for the male ducks.
Lovely colorful mallards ! Incidentally I have disabled word verification in my blog as per your suggestion:))
love their reflections... so beautiful
Bardzo lubię kaczki i Ty chyba też, bo cieszysz się, że pływają w Twoim stawia.Pozdrawiam ciepło. *** I like ducks, and you probably too, because I enjoy that swim in your poses. With best wishes.
Wow! It doesn't take them long, does it?
Great shots of the ducks.
Lovely reflections too.
It seems like a quiet place for reflection.
Have a nice week-end!
Great characters.
I love these.
Your mallards are much prettier than our here. Ours are pretty plain and dull.
Really makes me smile to see waterfowl back at your place. The mallards have always been a favorite of mine. These shots are beautiful. Love that you got 4 of them together!
that male is so handsome, you are right he does look plastic. in the first one he really outshines the female, in the reflection too.
wacky nature: males almost always get the beautiful colors
I have always loved mallards; the green of the male head is so intense and beautiful.....the reflections are awesome...
I love that beautiful colour of the male Mallard. Oh yes,the reflections are an added bonus.
Beautiful series on the Mallards!
P.S. May I borrow the use of your Word Verification Free Blog badge as well? I'm going to assume you'll say yes and put it on my side bar. If you want me to remove it, just leave a comment for me. Thank you!
Maybe you'll have some wee ducklings to photograph and post before long...
The light, the color, the subject...all wonderfully captured.
It is so nice to see your pond filling up all reflective and pretty!
Beautiful mallards, love their reflections.
They look like tame mallards (gone feral?) Our wild mallards are much smaller.
Beautiful! all of it!
You got some great pictures. The lighting must have been perfect to catch the gleaming brilliance of the male.
You truly live in a beautiful place
I like the simplicity of the mallard's quack, and I can almost hear it when I look at your photos.
Mallards are so common BUT their green makes us turn our head and watch as they swim around with female buddies....and that's why they are so cool.
I happy you have your pond and all it's denizens back.
They are so pretty. You must be thrilled to have the pond filled again.
They are so lovely those ducks :) Beautiful reflection photos!
They are beautiful and I am so happy to see your pond is up again!
They are so fun to watch....happily swimming!
I think the bottom photo is the best. Great colors and I love the reflections.
Some couples return and maybe some little ones this spring!
What a lovely pair!
Love those mallards...so striking in color!!!
The Mallard is widely distributed across the Northern Hemisphere, North America from southern and central Alaska to Mexico, the Hawaiian Islands, and across Eurasia, from Iceland and southern Greenland and parts of Morocco (North Africa) in the west, Scandinavia to the north, and to Siberia, Japan, and China in the east. It is strongly migratory in the northern parts of its breeding range, and winters farther south. For example, in North America it winters south to Mexico, but also regularly strays into Central America and the Caribbean between September and May.
The Mallard inhabits a wide range of habitat and climates, from Arctic Tundra to subtropical regions. It is found in both fresh- and salt water wetlands, including parks, small ponds, rivers, lakes and estuaries, as well as shallow inlets and open sea within sight of the coastline. Water depths of less than 1 metre (3.3 ft) are preferred, birds avoiding areas more than a few metres deep. They are attracted to bodies of water with aquatic vegetation.

Lucky! Our ducks have moved on. I hope we have some others stop and visit.
What beautiful creatures! We have a small stream but no pond on our property so we don't get to host too many water birds!
Mallards are so pretty!
I love the shiny green heads.

I think ducks and, in particular, mallards must be the most peace loving beings on the planet. Seems like they get along with everyone except people who want to hunt them. Glad yours are swimming in the pond.
I love mallards! They are my favorite duck!
I dream of having a garden with ducks...Soooo jealous..
Beautiful birds, These are my fav birds to photograph. I love the greenish blue color of the male duck.

Beautiful! I never understood why in the bird world the boys always get to be the pretty one?!
you mentioned word verification being on when you commented? it's not supposed to be, i hate WV! i commented to you and it didn't pop up....maybe a glitch?
Stunning colours on the green one. nice to see them back
Pretty tranquil.
The drakes do look kind of plasticy with their brilliant green heads. Beautiful photos! :)
Great pictures - LOVE those green heads.
Love your shots, T. It isn't fair that the males get all the colorful feathers!

Bet they're glad to have their swimming pool back:@)
Nice shots. They are so colorful. (o:
I always love the bright green head of the male. He is definitely easy to pick out of a crowd.
So sweet!
Lovely are those Mallards and it sure must be very rewarding having the rains fill up the puddles, waterholes and ponds and beyond once again~
You have suck wonderful photos! Thanks for stopping by but dont forget to enter the give away!
Ah the life of a duck (sigh). Think we could call that neon green.
Several years ago now I was offered the opportunity to take over a company with the title Mallard Corporation - of course the logo was this green & black feathered darling - and so I have fond associations when I see one in the wild.
Suffice to say that I decided that the Mallard fit wasn't for me but I do admire their iridescent loveliness.
Happy weekend - so happy to see the water levels in your dam at a level to entice such wonderful wildlife.
xx
I love your ducks and I'm so pleased that the pond is returning to its glory days
Yay! Sweet duckies,.
Awesome pictures of the Mallards, Theresa...
I'm telling individual people that I visit to PLEASE remove their word verification.. Noticed that you are doing that also...
Three of my people have gotten rid of theirs today... YEAH.
Hugs,
Betsy
Your reflections you give to people is HUGE. Where would I be without my TexWis girl sharing her world with others? Such an inspiration. Even if you do describe the drakes looking like plastic on the pond. Ha.
What a fantastic shade of green on that male duck - like an emerald.
Great pictures, those drakes are such show offs aren't they and you have caught the reflections beautifully.
Such pretty ducks! I am missing mine. I hope they come home to Canada soon! :)
xo Catherine
Great capture of the iridescent head of the males! So pretty!
The orange fencing adds some dash to it. I love mallards! They look very pleased to be in your pond. I hope it's still raining in Texas.
Oh, fantastic green on the boy! Nice job! Super reflections, too!
I always enjoy the Mallards!
I love those mallards and I think spring is here. Sandie
Ducks are so much fun to watch.
I hope you have some little ones come spring - so glad to see that water!
I grew up seeing mallards every spring and the males have the most arresting color! Yes, it doesn't even look real sometimes. :)
Such gorgeous vibrant green heads. Mother Nature rocks!
Good morning, dera! here it is about 6: 59, a.m.
I out of bed visiting friends. Later my husband wants to take a drive i do not know if it is the correct meaning for a little visit to some villages around. I'll take some photos and i'll share with you, ok?
Those photos of your are magnificent! Thank you Theresa.

beautiful reflections, too.
Cool shots of the Mallard, your pond is looking great now! Have a great weekend!
Mallards and reflections! The pond makes a wonderful canvas for both!
It must be that time of year again
They are gorgeous!
I think you should have left the orange fence....it contrasts well with their green heads ;)
You're tempting me to put one of my cameras back on the pond that flooded last year ;). lol.
Beautiful reflections.
Regards and best wishes
The female in the first photo is a butt sniffer! :) I love those mallards. We have a lot of them over here where I work. They're mostly those brown females.. with a nice speckle of mallards here and there in the huge herd.
Very nice! These are the ducks we see most often around here. Gotta love those bright colors.
You have a little bit of everything there on the ranch. Love the colors on those mallards. They are so pretty. Know you are happy the pond is back up. Thank goodness the rains came. Hope you had a nice Easter. The weather here is delightful. Take care. genie
