Put a Fence in Front of It 10

My favorite bull in the neighborhood, Paco, was up close to the fenceline one day a couple of weeks ago, so I pulled over to snap his photo.  He seems a bit lean this winter - maybe, like so many other Texas ranchers this year, his owner has been scraping by on supplying hay to their herds.

He's still a handsome hunk o' beef, though!
 I think his ladies agree.
Paco got tired of the paparazzi and started heading across the pasture.
His entire harem of cows and their calves took off running to follow him.  I'm guessing that's every man's dream...

Even lean, I would not want to cross his path! Loved your commentary!

Too funny, but true! He is clearly living the good life! I was commissioned to shoot a bull (with a camera, not a gun ;) a while back and man was it intimidating slinking through the fields with only an occasional tree for protection! In my case his name was Hearty and he was a hunk of good looking love too!

Mike said...

Them girls are running him ragged.

He does look very puny. Not too much marbling on them steaks.

I see hay trucks, heading south, every day on I-35. BF says they're heading for Texas. BF made hay, last summer, the same acreage that he always does, but it didn't make nearly as much as it normally does. He switched some of his fields over to corn, this year. He's expecting more dry weather and is trying to prepare for it. That bull does look mighty lean...

Paco may not be getting quite all he wants to eat this winter, but he's not suffering from lack of attention from the ladies--his own kind and human! :-) Are ranchers having a problem this winter supplying enough hay because of the drought?
