| And just what would be YOUR guess?! |
I'm sorry, but I'm just going to be honest, here. If you use word verification on your blog, I will probably stop leaving comments. Not only is word verification very time-consuming, now it is downright frustrating! My eyes don't decode spy messages! And if I now have to try two or three times to repeat the gobbledygook that is being passed off as word verification, I'm just not going to bother!
Sorry if this offends any of you, but I've not used word verification for over a year and have had almost NO problems! If Blogger does one thing well, it is spam filtering. I don't allow Anonymous comments on my blog - you have to use an I.D. of some kind - and that has been more than sufficient.
If you are worried about spammers or inappropriate comments left on your site, then PLEASE switch to comment moderation! I'll be happy to continue to leave comments and let you moderate whether to publish them or not, but at least then you're doing the policing of your site and I'm not driven to madness by spy code garbage!
Just being 100% point blank, here. I follow between 300 and 400 blogs. I leave a TON of comments all over Blogland every day. I CANNOT CONTINUE TO DO SO IF I RUN INTO WORD VERIFICATION AT SO MANY SITES! I don't mean to be rude, but my time is better spent in other pursuits than decoding and typing nonsense. Let's face it, we all have limited time to give to blogging (and I already give too much!)
I don't want to stop leaving comments. We all love getting them on our posts! PLEASE remove word verification altogether or switch to comment moderation, if you feel you must have some stop-gap control. BUT I MAY NOT LET YOU KNOW I'VE STOPPED BY IF YOU HAVE WORD VERIFICATION ENABLED! If you're not certain whether you've got word verification on your blog, check your settings!!!
* I use 'Registered Users' so that Anonymous comments cannot be posted.
* I suggest using a pop-up box or full-page format rather than 'embed below post' as that setting so often causes folks problems in trying to leave comments.
* I click NEVER for comment moderation, but you can select it if you wish.
* Click NO for show word verification on posts!
* I have my comments delivered to my email address so I can respond to commenters directly via email if they have email published (which I also highly recommend!)#
If any of you faithful Bloggers want to spread this message, feel free to copy and re-post any or all of my ranting or link back to this post. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND FOR MAKING WORD VERIFICATION NON-EXISTENT!!! Keep spreading the blogger love without spy code frustration!
# Update: In the New Blogger Interface, you can select 'No' for Word Verification through your Blog Dashboard. The menu is shown on the left hand side - choose 'Settings', then 'Posts and Comments'. Select 'No' for Show Word Verification. This is also where you can prohibit Anonymous comments by selecting 'Registered Users - includes Open I.D.' under 'Who Can Comment'. This eliminates about 99% of spam, I've found. Otherwise, you can select 'Yes' for Comment Moderation if you wish to approve them before they are published. Hit the 'Save Settings' button at the top right.
Also, to have your comments delivered to your email inbox, from the same left-side menu on your Blog Dashboard, select 'Settings', then 'Mobile and Email' and fill in an email address you wish to read your comments from in the 'Comment Notification Email' box. Hit the 'Save Settings' Button at the top right.

Yeah....so happy you did this post...this word verification is driving me nuts...I've had to redo too many times...I'm going to put a link to your post...Thank you ...Thank you...Thank you...
I'm going to copy you! I am so frustrated!!! You put it so well. Thank you , dear girl!
Not to mention the havoc word verification has on visually impaired users and the software that enables the blind to use the internet!
I so understand what you are saying here! I can't figure that word verification thing out either and it takes too long. I have bandwidth issues if I pull up too many blogs that are loaded with lots of things on them. I then can't get online for 2 days for that to clear back up. My internet connection actually is my husband's work account that his office pays for so I can't use it all up when he needs to be working from home and he can't.
I'm with you on this one all the way.
Thanks for helping out the newbies here. I thought I had been doing the right thing by having word verification, but I removed it recently when I got sick of losing comments while trying to decipher some of the code.
I noticed that on someone's blog today and it is way too difficult.
Hear hear!
PS: Loving the joy in your 'header' photos!
x
Thanks for saying all this! I just spent too much time trying to figure out what one of those blurry code words was a few minutes ago! I have never had any problems with comments and I've never used word verification. Again, thanks!!
I just noticed that change too, really challenging to decode some of those words!
I posted a little something about this myself. It is driving me nuts. And I am not too far from that place - lol. sandie
I'm absolutely with you on this one; it frustrates me no end especially if I get it wrong the first time round! I also haven't changed the interface and I've always had comment-moderation ticked. No issues; too easy! Save your readers time and endless frustations by checking out these options; it's an easy ride.
YES! I recently noticed this new word verify thingy and it makes me not one to leave a comment. I'm still "word verify free." It works for me. I'm not worried about crazies on the internet - hey, I recently learned that a Nigerian prince has millions of dollars he owes me.. life is good.
I had NO idea mine had changed. It used to be easy to decipher. I wonder why blogger did this! CRAZY. I guess I will take it off and have no anonymous comments.. I was going crazy too typing in all those hard to read words!!!!!
I agree! It's sad that some rotten apples have caused a need for these type of restrictions. If everyone would just respect and care for everyone else, ALL SORTS of things in life would be so much easier! I took word verification off and switched comment permission to registered users to weed out some of the spam. I was getting 3-4 a day prior to that move and it was irritating, but better than loosing blog friends! I know people still read, but the relationships are made with the commenting.
Thanks a lot for this post!
I've been frustrated all evening, trying to figure out those 'spy codes'.
I'll put the button in my sidebar and link back to this post.
Thanks again.
Mette
Amen, sista. This new word verification sucks! I can't read it!
I stole your badge and am gonna use it.
Thanks for the reminder! I had switched to no word verification on my other blog a few months ago, but forgot to change this one! I'm with you - no offense taken.
I so agree!!! That 'captcha' thing is for the birds!!! I was trying to donate to the alumni association of my college alma mater, and I could NOT get past that....5 times! I was furious. Finally, I telephoned them and told them they had to change it. I'm with you about not commenting on blogs that have the feature.
Finally, someone speaks up. I am loosing my mind and my eyesight trying to get it right.
I like how you tell it like it is.....
I'm back again! You don't moderate? I have been getting spam comments, so I think moderation is to my advantage. Do you get spam in your e-mail?
Let me know if you ever have any trouble posting. I think I've fixed it.
I do allow anonymous comments as I have many facebook friends and family who don't have google IDs. I don't use word verification, and, like you have never had a problem.
rant on :)
Don't worry; you aren't being rude. This is animportant conversation to have: what deters people from commenting? And the CAPTCHAs ARE a bit ridiculous now, but maybe it's for good reason. Have you ever tried the auditory CAPTCHA? Might be easier for you.
I really hope to see you on my blog again. I'm going to keep the CAPTCHA to avoid spam.
AMEN.... I am posting something tomorrow on my blog about this. You and I have WAY too many people to visit and many many of mine still use Word Verification...
What is Blogger thinking? I cannot read what it's saying about half the time... GADS--makes me furious...
I totally agree with you.
Hugs,
Betsy
Amen!
I won't rehash what you said, but you got it exactly right. Word verification, especially this new format, is nonsense. Having word verification AND comment moderation is just plain ridiculous. I hope some people will rethink their blog settings. They are blogs, after all, not bank vaults. Great post! You were more diplomatic than I would have been. :-)
I am with you girlfriend......these new letters are maddening......
Thank you so much for your post... some of these word verifications are undecipherable and frustrating. Thanks for helping educate our fellow bloggers!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! The word verification mania has increased in the past week. AWFUL!
Your message is perfect . . . and I will be passing it along . . .
Came over from Debs blog. You say it better then I can. I actually mention this in my post tomorrow but only in a very small way. I am gong to link people to this. I read about 50+ posts each day. I never liked word verification but now it is horrible. Great post!
I could not agree more! I don't allow anonymous comments and that is all. On the very rare occasion I get spam, I mark it as such and it stops. I hate word verification and especially this form. And responding via email is the only way I do it. I rarely go back to a post I have commented on to see if they have responded, mostly because I can't remember which I commented on that day and which I didn't.
You are the best blog commenter in the world! Comments are candy and I just don't think people know. Thank you for detailing and posting this information. I am trying the new interface this week as a "test" and can't find the word verification in the same place as the old interface. I would love if did a blog post on how you manage to comment on so many blogs and how you track what blogs you read. Thanks T!
Thanks Theresa, You hit the nail on the head with this post. I am going crazy trying to decipher the letters.
I have been trying to figure out those dumb words all day. So glad you said something. I wonder why they changed it.
I've said it before & I'll say it again... You tell em, TWG! ALL THAT CRAP IS TERRIBLY ANNOYING!
I use comment verif on posts older than 2 days in case I miss a comment that was made after my latest post... is that the same thing as what you're talkin' bout here? I'm confused...
Hey there! Noticed this today on other blogs I was commenting on and never thought about it on our own blog. I didn't realize it was a wholesale change in blogger. I immediately turned it all off, following your instructions, and put your button with a linkback in my side bar. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm gonna try again... let me know in the morning. UGH!
That's right! Word verification is unnecessary because these days, blogger's spam filter isn't bad at all. Please, people, listen.
Amen! The word verification drives me crazy - and Google is also not letting me sign in with my Typepad profile which I use on writing blogs. Very frustrating! You do a great job of commenting on blogs - I know everyone appreciates it and so I hope they follow your suggestions!
So that is why comment section has been collecting dust lately. I can't agree more with the double word verification process. Sooo frustrating. A quick visit to the settings section and DONE! Thank you for the heads up. Not sure what my blog would do without your fabulous comments. =)
Yeah Tex I have enough work around the farm if I have to work hard to leave a comment on someones blog even if I really want to. I may not have the time or the strength to do it. I come here to relax not play a puzzle game of guessing and errors. I am glad you brought it up. B
I hit up against my first new format verification the other day! Took me three tries to get the darned thing and even then it was a crap shoot!
I am glad it is not just me that hates these word verification boxes. It is true they are so hard to read. Good on you for tackling this!
I agree and hate the new word verification. My problem is that I don't see the word verification until after I've written my comment - and I don't remember who has it and who doesn't.
Thanks for your post. I had no idea that the new format of letters had come in. I've just switched my word verification off - I shall see how I go with spam! It was a problem a while ago.
Thank you! I've been trying to figure out how to politely say this. On Millie's blog, she even allows anonymous comments and it hasn't been a problem without word verification. I find so many times now that if word verification is on, it messes up and I can't leave my comment. It just returns me back to my typed comment. What a frustrating mess!
Thank you! I've just gone through several of those, and some are impossible to make out the letters. I finally give up.
Man, did you ever hit the nail on the head! I've even tried clicking on the audible link for some of those indecipherable captcha codes and it comes out so garbled that I just give up. I hope I'm not using word verification as I had it turned off but hard to tell what Google might have sprung on me while I was out sick.
Yay! Spread the word, T!
Dearest Theresa,
THANKS A MILLION for starting this and I will soon follow up on it as well.
Like you mention, my time is limited and my typing is a lot faster for leaving a comment instead of squinting my tired eyes for doing the 'spy code'... AMEN to that.
Love to you,
Mariette
Well said Theresa. I agree 100%
This crazy word verifaction is a complete nightmare to understand.
I clicked on the audio option on one blog, and that's even worse.
Well said, Theresa. After fighting the new word verification format yesterday and today I took it off of my blog, because if I hate it I know everyone else does too.
HELL YEAH! One blog I follow I was faced with a double word verification today! Two F$%#@&G words I had to decipher! Stop the madness!! Thanks Theresa for this post. I <3 you.
Thanks girl. I am having trouble reading those and am really wondering why we have to verify? Do we have a robot problem that necessitates this?
And I do notice you comment on my little ol' blog as well as many of the ones I follow. Thank you.
Leave it to Theresa to put it into words that everyone can understand! YOU are my hero! Half the time I have to do the verifications twice. Very time consuming! Thank you T!
I have read and agree with your thought.
The means to protect their incoming comments are there.
This assessment tool, was irritating before.
Now is also incomprehensible.
It would take a post in any blig to express the general disappointment.
Cloudy becoming to you.
A smile ..
Niki
The word verification is most annoying. I removed it months ago: I do receive some spam comments but they always end up under the Spam folder so I easily delete them. I have comment moderation on so that I know I have a comment waiting for me.
Blogland would be better without word verificiation:)
It's so frustrating...
I feel exactly the same, most of my blogfriends are using the verifcation...and I, like you can not see the letters...and it just takes too much time!!
Hallo again :) Can I use the first photo of the verification? or maybe I just link to you...
Have a nice day :)
Yesssss...I do agree with you!
I'm going to see my definitions...because I do not want my readers to suffer as I suffer trying to decode those...those..."things"!
Kiss
BS
Well said theresa...it'
s so frustrated.
Greetings and a nice weekend, Joop
I give it one try, if it gets declined I move on. Happy Weekend to you:@)
Couldn`t agree more!!! Thank you for posting this...perhaps all blogger users should just not post for a day and then blogger may listen! We don`t want these `upgrades`.
I groaned when I saw the 'new' format, it's been in use at other sites for some time.
Thank you for speaking up. I may join your boycott!
It's fair comment and you are always so kind to leave comments to encourage your fellow bloggers.
I am right behind you - it is so frustrating. It does make you think twice before commenting.
Thanks for posting this.
I was finding it hard to repeat the verification too. I didn't know mine was change too. I tried to Unverify but, couldn't follow it. I must read your post again to see how I should do.
I started with no verificationm then I started have spams, so I set the verifcation, but if they are so difficult to do, i am dead again it too.
Thanks.
I am so happy you post this !!..i can't read them too......have a nice weekend...love Ria....xxx..
Too true - why some people have word verification and moderation on is beyond me.
Splendid - and visibly angry post!
I don’t understand why some people assume anybody who visits their blog has evil intent – if people are that worried about what other people will post, why blog?
SM - Australia
Hear, hear! Nice post, to the point and very educational/informative.
I copied you I hope that was ok
x Fiona
I'm with you all the way. It's ridiculous! I'll definitely try to spread the word. I just finished making a comment on one of the blogs I follow! I removed mine months ago after your first plea and I don't recall having any spam left on either of my sites.
I have done my post, Thanks so much tex, I borrowed your badge. Now I need to find out how to remove mine. Isn't it frustrating they don't tell us that have done it?
Thanks Teresa for this post! This has been driving me CRAZY!! I actually allow anonymous replies (for my brother!) and the occasional spam goes to my spam comment box in Blogger, I have never had a problem with them posting on my blog.
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN and AMEN!!!! I even allow annonymous comments and have had no problem. They filter very well!! FRUSTRATING doesn't even cover it!! Grrrrr. t.
You tell it Tex! Yesterday I got one that was actually layered numbers - I was baffled on what to do with THAT!
I have always used comment moderation in lieu of word verification. It's easy and there has been only one or two occasions that I skipped publishing a comment because it was spam the Google spam catcher missed.
Good for you for posting this. I hate word verification too, and now it's very frustrating. The older I get the more frustrating things become for me!
AMEN!!!
Did you say you wanted me to use bloggers word verification for comments? :::running:::
I recently noticed that, too and dislike that idiocy. It seems all these social plug-ins continue to fix things that aren't broken. Do they not realize, the more crap you add the more likely things screw up.
Okay, I have something to blog about, later. I haven't had a bitch session in awhile. ;)
Breathe, Theresa.
kudos
AMEN! I had one blog last night that I tried to leave a comment on that I had to reload the spy code 4 times before I could even figure it out, then I still had it wrong. I didn't leave that comment.
I plan to blog a rant about it too. Can I swipe your Word Verification Free Blog to use as a badge on my side bar?
Here.here... I couldn't agree more! I detest that new format...
I hear you Tex and while we are on the comment subject would you consider adding Name/URL to your comment options? Please. I bought my own domain from Wordpress but then they decided they didn't recognize me so I have to type in three different screens twice my domain and my posting name before I can get my comment to you. I understand if you prefer not to do it. I am still going to type type type and visit and comment here!
preach it girl, i agree 100 percent. i just tried to leave a comment and it took 3 tries. it is unreadable. i was thinking of doing a quick post about it when i found yours...YAY TEX and what the heck is blogger up to with this new format. i am linking to your post also.
Betsy sent me over here and I'm glad she did! I agree with you 100%. The verification thing is WAY too much out of hand. I wonder if Blogger did a money making deal with the capacha people.
I couldn't agree more with you regarding word verification!!!! Ugh!
Amen, TWG!
So with you! I let 'anyone' comment and have had no problem with spammers or the like. Blogger has been very good at screening them. I may get an occasional email in my inbox of a spammer who commented on my blog but Blogger does not post it in my comments section.
Yes, those new word verifications are difficult and unnecessary; I'm so glad you did this post!
can't agree with you more. The moderations totally slow me down and I've now removed them from my blog. Great post. Well said!!!! And now a new follower. ☺☺
T, I agree wholeheartedly! I tried a comment on a fav blog yesterday and did it 3 times before giving up with it all together.
In the time since I turned off word verification, on your advice, I have had no problems with spammers or anything else!
Maybe I am missing it somehow, but I couldn't find a place in my settings to click no for word verification. I tried right after I got your post comment last night. Then this morning at least four more people complained to me that I had it (I didn't realize I still did and would rather not) so I am going to go back in and try again. I hate it on other people's blogs, too, so I totally underastnd why you did this post. Maybe everyone will get the word!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Theresa!!!! It has been driving me CRAZY! Completely illegible and far too time consuming. I took it off my blog as soon as I spotted the change. Of course the spam has started but as you said Google are very good at filtering it and my email alerts me to it. I didn't have a problem with the old one word verification but this is just too much. Hopefully blogger will take notice. I am also not happy about the Followers widget apparently being discontinued soon, I hope they have a rethink.
By the way, I also tried listening to the audio version of the word verification and couldn't understand what that was saying either!! Just ridiculous, thank you Theresa you put it so well.
I just posted your link in a comment on one of my favorite photography blogs. Hope she removes word verification soon, because she has complained about it more than once.
http://moredoors.blogspot.com/2012/02/im-so-sorry.html
Wow! You really struck a chord. I agree, too.
Word verification makes me want to drop an anvil on someone's head.
I hate that crap.
Tex I think I have something worked out. Almost. See you in comments tomorrow morning or before for a test drive!
Well said! I can rarely decipher those darn things. I do use comment moderation as I had some estranged family members leave nasty comments but never the word verification.
Amen,,,,,well said!!
Will you please go to my blog and see if I have it taken off yet? Thanks!
Thanks!!
:)) Wonderful!
It was bad enough having to guess at one word but now TWO? I won't be commenting on those blogs either... I don't use word verification on my blog and it's a rarity that any unwanted comments get through. Come on people... shut that crap off!!
thanks for the heads-up! Turned it off on our blog after reading this post :-)
OMG...kiss kiss kiss. Thank you so much for posting this. I secretly think is is an IQ test and I am failing it.
I have thought about saying something in the comments to my blog friends...but that might be considered rude. Then I thought I won't comment at all. But that isn't nice either. So instead I am all twitchy and my eyeballs are bleeding....
I had encountered this just recently and hadn't realized that it was a Blogger thing. I thought it was some setting that that particular blogger had decided to use. I even tried using the audio setting to decipher the word verification and couldn't understand the audio either. Thanks for this post. I hope Blogger is listening.
I concur!!! I don't have the time nor the eyesight for the double word, fuzzy letters verification! LOL!
And word verification using an iPad? Horrible if not impossible!
Love this post friend!
xo Catherine
I didn't realize I had word verification until I saw the comment you left on my blog. I had signed up for comment moderation, but didn't know about the verification. Anyway, I've removed it. Let me know if you have any trouble.
IVe had some major problems with the word verify thing...ITS a real TURN OFF for me..lol
I am having a terrible time with the new word verification, too! When I am having to try again 3-4 times, it is pretty obvious that my nearsighted eyes don't do well with this new spy code stuff. I might have to quit commenting on blogs that have this, too.
I switched over a long time ago to skip the verification jazz--to where I can just go through my comments before I post them. That way I can delete any spam (of which I get very little) and it never gets posted. At least I hope it's still verification free! Blogger acts up now and again. I will have to double check.
Plus--if you have word verification you will never have a blind or sight impaired follower. It is a huge road block for them.
Great post!! I might link to it, too. Thanks!!! :):)
Hello! Nice to meet you through Betsy. Good post on Blogger constantly changing things. I'm sure the "new" interface will be the only interface as soon as they switch all the code. As long as some of their pages come up in the old format, you call probably switch back and forth, but rarely does anything like this let you have a choice forever. Just a warning.
I took off the word verification and dropped the anonymous comments. The weird word blobs are not good. But, I like the embedded comments choice. It lets you reply to a comment clearly indicating who you're replying to and so can others. I haven't had trouble leaving comments anywhere since I switched to Google Chrome or Safari for a browser either. Explorer doesn't seem to play nice with blogger some days. Anyways, thanks for the insight and info!! See you online.
WELL SAID! I am a word verification free blog and always have been!
Dearest Theresa,
Thanks for your visit and as of now, my post about it is up too and I've linked also back to you. Thanks for pointing out clearly about the new interface as some people cannot mark the NO for word verification because of it. Glad I could pass that info on to Japan. Hope she will be able to go back to the old interface and take it off.
Thanks for starting this crusade and let's hope we get MANY followers. I've never had mine on either.
Love to you,
Mariette
OMG T! How did I miss this post!! I am so damn frustrated by this new word verification. It has taken me at least 3 times as I can't decipher the things. I thought it might just be me and my eyesight is going! I have to read your post again. Wordpress isn't like this yet I don't think. HOW do I make it a word verification free blog?
AMEN!!!
Bravo! Well said.
I haven't used Word Verification in almost two years. As long as Anonymous comments are turned off it is unnecessary.
I've been gone most of the week and haven't run into the new version yet but, like you, if I do I will probably not leave a comment. Too many blogs to visit to deal with that kind of frustration.
Hello, this is Orchid from Japan.
My friend Mariette told me about your blog and explanation♡♡♡
Thank you SO much about your help♪♪♪ I wish "word verification free blog" will spread. I just couldn't realized "the 'cog' looking icon towards the upper right corner" you taught us. Yay! I am back to the old interface.
Lots of love and Hugs to you, xoxo Orchid*
couldn't agree more! i noticed that on several blogs today and it is sooo frustrating.
Followed the link from Keith's blog. Brilliant. I wholeheartedly agree with you and will add my 2 pennyworth tomorrow.
Theresa, my eyes are THANKING you for this post. I can not stand this new verification process. It is just driving my eyes batty. I took off the verification thingy a long time ago and use the moderation setting. It is so much easier. I just wish more people would do the same. Thanks again, have a great weekend!
Oh I totally agree. I have had so much trouble deciphering the darned things. I know people don't like spam but after putting in a repeat of what I THINK are the letters, I get pretty frustrated after the second or third time of not getting it right.
Yep, it's always a GUESS as to what the word is. I am never 100% sure that I have the correct letters/numbers.
AMEN!
I just visited a blog that mentioned your post and thought I'd come give some support.
:)
Great post and totally agree with you. I joined blogger in July and removed word verification soon after as I found it annoying when I visited other blogs.
The new captcha is most painful and very time consuming. I don't follow as many as you and I find I don't have the patience or time with this new format.
Thanks for your lovely comments all week. Have a great weekend, Theresa!
Yep, I've noticed that they've changed it too, and it's driving me nuts!
When I get back to blogging, I am thinking about doing another post about this...I didn't know if it was me visiting a few more blogs or if it was people changing things, but sure gets annoying.
I think possibly another place where I run into it is at the Barn Charm Meme...it has several new people that join every week.
Sweet . . . I'm going to link this to my FB page . . .
Ugh!! I'm so happy you posted this. I HATE the new verification. I thought I turned mine off months ago but I think it was just the moderation portion as I'm using the new interface. I'm going to do as you suggested and switch to the old in order to change the setting and then switch back. This really will limit people leaving comments...it's just too damn hard to decipher those codes.
I agree with you 100%. This word verification is awful!
Hello,
I didn't even realize I had word verification on my blog. I followed your instructions and think is is off now...Thanks!
I wondered what the heck was going on...one was bad enough and two words is two too many!
YEAH! you said it!! and said it well! i felt visually impaired today trying to catch up on my blog reading!
what nonsense! JUST SAY NO!! to word verification.
yes, yes, yes.
Could we not all simply refuse to use this deciphering rubbish and make blogger change its barmy mind?
I'm in full agreement here. And then there are those that use word verification and moderation. What's up with that? I, personally, like the small comment box vs the full page. I'm always running behind and like to be able to leave a comment on one post, scroll down and leave a comment on the next post. With full page comments, I have to click back on the blog name and then scroll down to each post I haven't previously read. Just my preference. Great post. I hope everyone pays attention.
Well, I hardly ever follow somebody who gets 136 comments, or has 700 followers, but I'm on board! Came over here from Forks Off the Moment and signed right on up! :-)
BTW, I've been word verification free for quite awhile now and still use anonymous but moderate older posts.
TOTally, one hundred percently agree with you on this!! This word verification crap has made me near (almost there)crazy the past few days. I've given up on commenting on several after it took me to the 3rd try...nuts! Also, I have trouble with certain color combos on blogs. No offense, but red on gray is near impossible for my poor eyes to decipher. Same goes for yellow on white.I guess I might be in the minority on the color thing, as I have some major eye troubles. : >( My blogbud, Betsy, referred me to your post.
Well hell. I'm glad I read this because I went to switch the art blog from your comment and couldn't find the word verification button. I knew I didn't check it because I hate world verification too. I didn't realize Blogger had a new thing going. I'll check that now.....and stop yelling at me. Gawd!
right on...word verification sucks...it sucked before and is far worse now....
I am spreading the word in a few different places. Great article here.
As a former blogger user. I completely agree with your post. Word verification drives me nuts!
Pamela
I couldn't agree more about disliking word verification. I didn't like it before and now it's even worse.
And...it's nice to read that I'm not the only one that's not using the new interface. Maybe one day....but I'm such a creature of habit, it takes me awhile to embrace technical change.
Great post. We took our wv off and allowed anonymous comments but got targeted by spammers leaving dangerous links. Now we're retuned our settings to registered users only and hope we'll get the best of both worlds.
I can't read any of the new ones.
Well said! I too am getting sick of (at 65) attempting to read the nonsense!
I totally agree with you.
This word verification is so annoying. Well spoken!
I don't use word verification because I have a visually impaired friend and she cannot leave comments if the word verification is there. And since I like comments... I was willing to give it up in a heartbeat anyway! I agree, the words have become harder to read. I've had to renew a few times before I got anything that was readable!
Word verification is removed from my blogs now and I 'borrowed' your image to head my posts and credited the source :).
Thank you,
Robyn
Oh job well done - I too hate the new style, and just did a post on it myself! You've explained it so much better than I did. Thank you!
ditto!
Yay you! I'm in the process of writing up a very similar post. I'm going to steal your WF image because it very well illustrates how difficult it is to read. Thank you for this. :)
Thanks for this..one of the reasons I like wordpress..but I can't see those darn letter at all...Michelle
I couldn't have ranted this any better! I totally agree with everything you said. In addition to this, before blogger would allow me to create my post today, I had to switch over to Google Chrome! They came right out and said it in an imbedded message on my dashboard. I switched and like it, but I don't like not having a choice...
Thank you for putting it so perfectly. I removed word verification from my blog, and posted about it. After finding your blog post I put a link back to yours as it says it all so well. Hoping that is ok with you.
Thank you! I have removed word verification from my blog and linked back to yours.
What a difficulty I had in getting rid of mine!! I had blogger in draught up as my dashboard and I had to disable this before I could remove the verification (you know, I didn't realise I had it!). It took an age to work this out.
where's the "like" button for this?
;o)
An EXCELLENT post! I posted about your post and I borrowed your awesome picture and linked you in my sidebar.
Thanks bunches!
Thank you for this post. I have been going crazy with these new 'words' and was beginning to think I had suddenly become illiterate!!!! I have switched the offending operation off on my blog, as I don't want to frustrate others as I have been.I will be putting a link to your post too.Thank you again.
Just wanted to say thanks for your post--very well said. I'm linking to your post from my blog today, and will be adding your Word Verification Free Button to my sidebar.
AMEN! I use Evites quite frequently & I hate their word verification mess. Thank you for NOT using gobbledy gook that gives me headaches! P.S. I just found your blog, and thank you for that, too. I'm finally determined to get a garden growing. Hideous Houston summer heat, or not!
Thank you. Have posted your button and linked to this post.
Muchas gracias, yo nunca he tenido esas palabras de verificación.
Pero ODIO cuando no puedo comentar en los blogs que sí las tienen.
Un abrazo
He puesto el boton y el enlace en mi blog
Thank you! have just found your blog and totally agree have nabbed the button :)
I've only just come across this, linked from another blog. I agree, word verification is really irritating.
I hate vertification also. I tried six times to a gal who had beautiful pictures but the dang word vertification dont work.
I have a way if someone takes my photo. They will be sorry they did.
Ha,ha they will have to live with it all their life.
Your sins will get you found out.
You can run with it but sooner or later what goes around comes back worse.
Thanks for this pole of people who agree.
The words are not readable.
Please can we have a similar campaign against "Comment Moderation"? If you don't like someone's comment, try deleting it.
I recently switched to Blogger because my previous host allowed an increasing avalanche of spam comments to get through. I had to manually go through 200 to over 300 comments daily and try to separate the legitimate ones from the garbage. So far, I have not used word verification and Blogger has not allowed a single spam comment to get through. I had one silly and irrelevant one that I simply caught in comment moderation. I do like comment moderation as some days I do not get to a computer and I wish to avoid embarrassing myself or readers because of my inattention.
Ohyes, I also hate those verifications! I never put it on my blog, so I'm happy to announce its verification free.
Hi TexWisGirl, I appreciate your post and I have turned off my verification button last year. I don't follow that many blogs but I sure hate those nuisances.
Thanks for allowing me to use your button. I'll install it in my sidebar.
Your photography is awesome.
Have a great day
JB
Thanks for this...I hope I did it right! If I haven't i'll no doubt hear about it!
Ron
I agree that the word we shall write is hard to see sometimes. I hope they try change it to a better way some time.
