Turret Season

There's a block in our little country town that has some pretty impressive homes on it.  Definitely a few turrets turning heads there.

Okay, a gazebo, not a turret, but still keeps with the theme.

This place didn't have a turret, but it had a fantabulous rounded, double-story, wrap-around porch/veranda.
Had to share it with you.

Side view of same place.

Wonderful houses... are they all in Texas? I don't know why I love old houses - the one we've got is about 50 years old and we sometimes call it Patches... still, it's fun to dream.

Nice looking homes, Tex. I also like the double veranda home, but it's so much real estate I'd be afraid I'd get lost inside there. :-)

Turrets? Why? They look good but are they left over from the civil war, or? Can they still mount machine guns? It is Texas? No?

We have few of these in town, as well. My problem is most were built when streets were narrow, back before the horseless carriage, so trying to frame a shot without getting run over by a truck is nearly impossible!
