Wow! I love his "cloak" of feathers.
For some reason those tail feathers bring to mind Miss Havisham, from Great Expectations...
Wow how majestic. I love how the wings look like I would think angel wings look. Really awesome.
I'm going to say this is a female just because it looks like she's wearing a formal dress the way those feathers fall. Beautiful pose and photos! The white is striking!
All dressed up. How do they stay so pure-white when they hang out in ponds, muddy fields and swamps?

What a gorgeous bird to have around:)!
something about the edges of the wings...just dangling their...makes this majestic bird so much more real and engaging....beautiful!
Elegant bird, such beautiful feathers. (You can sort of understand how -- back before anyone knew any better -- their plumes were so prized for hats.) I hate to think of it, but still you can kind of see why, given the way "ladies" had to dress back then...... Thanks to the people who worked so hard to save these beautiful creatures from extinction.
love their colourings; the splash of lime around their eyes with that light orange beak, and the long tail feathers, fabulous
Beautiful and stunning...Wow!!
if i die and come back as a bird, i think i want to look like that one :)
I've never noticed the green around the eyes before. Interesting!
Yep, hippo. ;)
If this is the same type bird that sits on John's cow's backs I've never seen one this close. I watched a flock of them yesterday. A cow would switch her tail to get the bird off then it would scare all of them and they would fly in a circle near the cows then land again.
Beautiful bird, love the color around the eyes!!
Super duper photos! I have yet to get them to pose for me.
Dearest Theresa,Love your great egret and you're lucky for being able to observe all this near your home!Have a great mid-week.Love,Mariette
