Kingfishers can be seen flying along the banks of the canal near where I live, but, you're right, they are easily spooked and can be very difficult to spot much less to photograph.

Ah, I adore these guys. They zip and zoom all over up here. They just make me happy

What a great looking bird! Some birds just seem to never sit still making it difficult for us to capture them with the camera. Carolina Wrens are difficult for me to capture... they're constantly moving!

Aw, he is a cutie! I love the blue mohawk.

Genie said...

This is one beautiful fellow. That headdress is awesome. Wish one would fly into one of our trees. Winds have died down tonight so the odor is not so bad, and I did not see any grim smoke rising into the air as in days past. We are supposed to get rain tonight. Keep those fingers crossed. I am feeling better. 4 days flat on my back without any grandchildren helped. Plus I think that dye really irritated my spine. Anyway, I am back at work and have returned to normal. You know me...I will never give up! genie

Michelle said...

What a sweet, little fellow!

Hilary said...

They are tricky! It seems that as soon as you even think about pointing the camera their way.. off they go with that complaining rattle-like sound. Nicely captured.

Stewart M said...
