So, did he fly up to that stump? Are these type of ducks better at that sort of thing than mallards? The mallards around here end up doing somersaults when they land and all sort of not very graceful craziness. I can't imagine them landing on a stump in the middle of the pond successfully.
I like the expressions of this bird that you caught. He (she) seems to say, "I've got all the confidence in the world." However, I don't know what this bird is so you've given me some homework.
Wonderful photos. Glad I wandered over here from Jan n Jer. A whistler was screaming from a rooftop in my neighborhood about a week ago. Must have lost something.
Sometimes I am such a Fruit Loop. I was so completely focused on the Whistler I was looking for its shadow. Took me a minute to realize that the beautiful shadows that gave these shots so much texture had nothing to do with your duck.
The minute I saw "whistler" I could hardly wait to click this post open! You have introduced me to the silliest little ducks I have ever seen and they never fail to make me grin just laying eyes on them. :)
I swear, do the birds all get together and say "Hey Tex is taking pictures again" Who's on the sign up sheet for this week?" You have the most interesting birds come visit you.
That is a great series of photos, T. I always love your photos so much. Judging by the number of comments you always have, EVERYone loves your photos.:)
You have such beautiful birds and ducks in your area. We attract NO ducks to our pond. (Maybe I should plant more shrubbery). I have to resort to plastic decoys! Thanks for posting these photos.

Thank you for the smiles--these always bring them.
Just sitting there thinking... If I were a duck, I'd be that duck!

Reflections in the pond makes a nice background for the Whistler!

He looks regal standing up there on his stump throne.
How much do you have to pay your bird "models" to pose for such great pictures?

Wonderful photos. Glad I wandered over here from Jan n Jer. A whistler was screaming from a rooftop in my neighborhood about a week ago. Must have lost something.

In another time, you and Monet would have made good company.

That is the sentry on guard duty. Beautiful whistling bird.
The minute I saw "whistler" I could hardly wait to click this post open! You have introduced me to the silliest little ducks I have ever seen and they never fail to make me grin just laying eyes on them. :)

I swear, do the birds all get together and say "Hey Tex is taking pictures again" Who's on the sign up sheet for this week?"
You have the most interesting birds come visit you.

Great captures of this loner! I saw quite a few of them arriving at the wetlands here this week...

My whistlers, my whistlers!! And in the last one he is looking at ME! ;-)
Lovely pics of the solitary whistler perched nicely on the tree stump.
I LOVE your Whistler!
Proud and beautiful. But that would hurt my feet.
You have such beautiful birds and ducks in your area. We attract NO ducks to our pond. (Maybe I should plant more shrubbery). I have to resort to plastic decoys! Thanks for posting these photos.
Beautiful shots!
It seems he has been posing for you! :-)
That's a nifty looking bird. He has a feel-good kind of look to him.
He has the perfect observation deck there. Great photos as always!
Stunning!
haha! Love it sitting on the stump all by itself. Must be the sentry for the whistling army. :-)
