Wood ducks

The wood ducks have had a prevalent presence at Run*A*Round for the past few weeks. I've seen as many as 3 pair on the water at once and as many as 5 males with 1 female (oy!) They like to sneak up from the pond to feed under the bird feeders at least several times a day.

I don’t know how your do it, but your bird shots are just awesome. As you know I am not a birder, but am trying to learn by studying people’s postings on their blogs. Your pictures are as fine as any I have seen. I have a question for you. I had not posted anything to Watery Wednesday in ages so posted the flooding only to notice that it apparently ended in March. Do you know? If the meme is no longer, then I need to remove the linking from the post. Just thought you might know. genie....warnings just came on TV....I dread more rain. It is messy! genie

They are such gorgeous birds, aren't they. We used to have a regular who stopped by for a while at our local pond. I called him Woodrow. ;) I can't say I've ever seen them on land, though.. or a female, for that matter. Woodrow would try to cozy up with a female Mallard.
