A few things I love

A good country road with a thick tree canopy.

Volunteer sunflowers that grow pondside.

Quiet time to reflect on the vastness and wonders of the world and your own place in it.
And tree varmints that just make you laugh.

me thinks you love varmints more than trees since you only have two photos of trees and more of the varmints. i love the tunnel at the end of the road made by the trees. and the little bird hanging out on the tip of the limb. so cute.

I'd like to drive down this country road when the leaves start turning. I'll bet it will be spectacular. This month's issue of Texas Highways has an article with cover picture and many more about where to find autumn leaves in the Piney Woods, so I'm already mapping out a day trip to see if I can find some of these places in late October/early November.

And I do like "varmints" better than tree rats"!

When I see roads like that, shaded by trees, my first thought is always, "I would love to ride a horse down there." That is, of course, if I had a horse and still rode! Beautiful country pictures.

Great looking lanes with the overhanging trees. I like the animal shots too. The squirrels are such good subjects with their something-new-every-minute way of hanging around.

Canopy's are so great. I always love the feeling when entering one on a hot day while riding a motorcycle. My other fav is when the leaves change color and you have an orange canopy.

Gail Dixon (Louisiana Belle) said...

The tree canopies are what I missed about Louisiana when I lived in Texas. Never really saw those in Texas but nice to know they exist. I loved your description that went with the hummer about reflecting on our place in the world. Beautiful.

Fábio Martins said...

And i like one thing... your photos :)

Tricia Hays said...

I share your love of tunneled or canopied roads, kinda brings out the kid in me!
And amen to the tree varmints... but nothing beats your shot of the one stretched, literally, thru the birdfeeder, that one is PRICELESS! =)

Thank you for the feedback, Theresa...
do you happen to remember what your friend used to soothe the itching or maybe clear it up some?
I'm alternating between Aloe Vera & Calamine lotion, right now... but they make Calamine lotion SOOOOO runny these days, it used to be thick where you could actually spread it around... I just don't like the stuff anymore!

That's a lovely tree-lined lane. Squirrels make me laugh too.. and say "awww" a lot. There's a young one snuggled up on a small shelf of vines, just outside of Frank's dining room window. He's keeping dry from the rain.
