The red cushions certainly point to life around that grand place. Imagine the light that comes in those windows when the curtains are opened.

Really pretty...but kinda sad.
Those chairs on the porch aren't grouped for conversation.
Although I love solitary time,
it's seems somewhat lonely here.

FOREST SNAPPER said...

nice house photos T, but why do they have the chairs so far apart on the front porch ? have they fell out with each other ?

Wow, such grand columns. I think these homes are cool, but I'm not a fan of the pure white, I need some color.

All this place needs is Hal Holbrook in his white Mark Twain suit, sitting in one of those cushy chairs, telling stories and passing out Mint Juleps to all and sundry in attendance. Are you there? I'm there!

Nice!

I once delivered mail to a house where they had added styrofoam pillars, painted with gold spray paint. They weren't being ironic, either. Lordy.

I love these beautiful old homes, so grand to look at! Methinks, however, I'd never live in one...far too grand for me, I'm much too plebeian for such grandeur to be truly comfortable.

MTWaggin said...

Those red pillows make the shot don't they! I love these old mansions and so glad you are sharing them.

Mariette VandenMunckhof-Vedder said...

Dearest Theresa,

Wow, that is grandeur at its very best indeed. Makes us proud to live in the South.

My great, great Aunt owned a home in Indiana very similar to that. It was moved twice. Once for the freeway to go through and again after she passed. The home is still in the family.

Beautiful house...love the little hint of red accents on the porch.

Lisa Sall - Sall's Country Life said...

Sall painted our pillars this weekend. If those were our pillars it would take him a little longer than the hour it took him to do the job!! Sometimes less is better.

wayside wanderer said...

Very fancy and what a great porch. I like the pop of red pillows, but, if that were my house I would be itching to get ahold of those flower beds and do something with them.
