Summertime bone picnic

At least once a year or more, I replenish the dogs' mammoth bone stock. The feed store sells these for $10 each. Because they're roasted, there's a lot of loose pieces and fat that needs to come off before they're brought into the house, so we start with a bone picnic for the four canines of Run*A*Round.

Little Louise (Catahoula female, 8 yrs. old)

Thelma Jean (Catahoula/Pointer female, 8 yrs. old)

BB (Rottweiler/Border Collie female, 4 yrs. old)

Big Baron (Black Lab male, 4 yrs. old)

Happy Kids = Happy Mom

Ha! If someone took a massive bone with bits of fat on and threw it at my feet, my reaction would be sooooo different...

They all look like very happy, healthy dogs. I also noticed the large frog on the wall in the background...how cute that is. Does your husband use the dogs to go hunting, or do you just have them to love on~

Wow! Your house must look like an archaeological dig like my house. Baskets and baskets of bones. I just bought new ones Thurs. Have to clean out the marrow so they don't get the "back door trots"!
Great pics!

Paula said...

Wowie! Now that's what I call a bone! We bought one of those for Lily last Christmas, but she grew tired of it after a couple of hours... it was like a mountain she couldn't climb! (Or maybe she was just too lazy to try to chew it all! *haha*)

Happy days are here again . . . great pictures of happy dogs savoring their delight . . .

Daughters MIL brings one of these to their house for their Great Dane . . . now when we visit, Paws, (the Great Dane) immediately goes to the back end of our car waiting to see if we too have a similar treat . . .

Instead, hubby provides several minutes of ear rubs . . .

I had assumed that BB and Baron were both labs. It was surprising to learn that BB was from a cross between a rottweiler and a border collie. I sure hope the mama was the rottweiler. :)

Your dogs are really special and these photos of them with their bone picnic are great. I also need to warn you about the mutant frog that seems to be getting ready to climb down and steal their bones ;) Which by the way is a great piece of garden art.

Roan said...

They look like they are enjoying themselves immensely. Willie loves bones, but I can't let him have them outside because he tries to bury them. Problem is, he doesn't use his paws to did the holes, he buries them—with his nose. Strange dog!
