Great photo shoot! Great model...
Wonder what he was saying...
Such a gorgeous bird, and so close to you. I especially like the one with his mouth open. looks like he is trying to tell you something! Have a lovely Thanksgiving holiday
So beautiful and dignified! Wonder if he was giving some young whippersnapper a piece of his mind in the second to last shot?As always, your photos have made my day a little brighter, thank you.
This is a great capture!
Love it! :)
You were certainly in the right place at the right time for these great shots!
Great photos of the Great Blue . . .
I especially love the shot where his mouth is wide open!!
Świetnie wygląda na czwartym zdjęciu z otwartym dziobem. Pozdrawiam. It looks great on the fourth picture of open beak. Yours.
Handsome Mr.Heron. Have a terrific Tuesday.Best wishes Molly
Hello Theresa,Very nice shots of this heron. Funny with his open beak.Greetings, Marco
They have such a stately stance... nicely caught!.. xo
Beautiful! We had one stand next to my husband and son while they were fishing once... and when they reeled in their catch, he waited while they unhooked it and flipped it over to him.
Oh honey, you can't always wear blue. I'm taking you shopping!
Love watching them lift to fly. They are fun and majestic.Blue is my favorite color. Probably because I was born of the sky, learned to soar and still dream about it.
What a regal bird. Wonderful shots, and he was so willing to pose for you.
handsome dude, excellent light
:-) I once told the man at the paint counter that I wanted my bathroom walls "Blue Heron blue". Pearl
AWESOME I am blown away with these shots. I love that bird it is my favourite after the Red tailed Hawk. Awesome. B

These are great photos! Gosh, he's a beauty and he let you get really close!
Love that bird. I know I've told you before that I am jealous of your resident.
Great shots, Theresa. So...was that a yawn? Or was he scolding someone with a camera? Or maybe just thinking about a fish and the swallowing reflex kicked in?
hij staat daar ook echt als een overwinnaar.
My Heron must of flown your way this morning. To visit your Bird.Imagine that.Great Shots.
Good Morning! Are these friendly or anti-social? I see his mouth open, did you notice a reason? Beautiful pics!
Awesome shots! He is so beautiful...you are so lucky to have such a wide variety of critters.
What is it about your photos that make me shut up and listen?
Oh, girl, those are just splendid shots of a splendid bird!Jo and Stella
Awesome captures, T. Well done!
Terrific shots! What did he say in that 2nd last shot?!
The Great Blue Heron makes a wonderful subject for this series. Nice shooting with excellent color and detail.
You've got the Great blue heron in a very typical pose. He did cooperate and open his mouth and with a mouth like that he probably startled you. The heron is one of my favorite birds.
Hi Teresa...Awww...life is good, but I am a little bored "yawn"!! ; )Grace
Cor, it's bigger everytime I see it, really good photos too.
Aren't they the most magnificent birds? We have them here but they look so gangly and uncoordinated when they go to land in the tops of the pine trees. He looks like he is saying. "'sup"
Oh, Girl - LOVE your Heron shots today! I'm so jealous. Looks like you were fairly close?? Great job!!!
They always look like royalty!
Great shots! I love the one with his beak open.
I just love how stately they are and how you just know they are thinking deep, deep thoughts. Very nice shots.
He really posed for you nicely until he got bored with you and yawned, which turned out to be the best shot.
He seems quite content and oh yeah, there's a yawn! Nice shots miss!
Looks like he had something to say in one of the shots.
Amazing pictures. He looks quite content to just sit there while you snap away.
He or she is just beautiful!
You are so fortunate to have such a wide variety of nature all around you....I'll trade houses with you. :)
How I would love to see a bird like that in person! I am always one step behind you on the web, it seems!
Magnificent! Such a proud-appearing bird.
He's "great"! :~)
I just lost a really long comment :-( :-( I always open your blog again in a new tab so I can start commenting and also read the posts I have missed since my last visit. Normally that works fine but this time I came back to the one with the comment box and for some reason it reloaded the page and I lost everything I had already written. So, apologies but it will be even longer now!Anyway, I just love your Heron, it is very much like our Grey Heron which is one of my very favourite birds so it was a pleasure to visit on a day when you were showing these lovely photos. It looks like it is yawning in one photo, maybe getting a little bored with all that standing around on a log :-) I also loved your black and white 'Serene Sunday' post, just gorgeous and they looked so contented. Your cheeky 'varmint' is always fun, I have one in my garden now...no photos yet though. Of course I also enjoyed the wonderful Wednesday Whistlers and the comical Roadrunner...someone ought to put it in a cartoon ;-) The photos of your Barred Owl were really magnificent, what a beautiful creature it is!
Dearest Theresa,How patiently they can stand there... Just one yawn of boredom?Hugs,Mariette
Great pics! When he yawned I heard "What's up doc" in my head. LOL!
Was he talking or yawning? :)
T, great shots!

Great series for a "Great" bird! Since you've seen my site, you know it's one of my favorite models!Hope y'all have a terrific Texas Thanksgiving!-Wally
I really enjoy the great blue when it is flying ever so slowly seeming to just sort of flap and glide through the air. I remember them from the time that I was growing up. I often watched one that would be wading in the shallow end of the tank. Very nice photos. I think they look rather impressive.
All wonderful shots but I particularly love the fourth one!
Nice shots. What did it say to you? Or was it just yawning?
