Oh I love the shape of this one it is like an old sap burning house with the top being high and would open to let the steam out. Very cool. B

Please remind me . . . why is a barn shaped liked this. Cattle on the sides, tractors and machinery in the middle?

EG CameraGirl said...

I like how you've shown us the barn as you've moved closer to it. NICE! The soil looks quite sandy there.

JM said...

Cool little barn.

Linda said...

That top section seems higher than on other barns of similar design. You need to start climbing fences and getting some inside shots. :)

Beautiful old building (let) you show in your photos.

Silly question but what do they keep in those barns? Animal or Vegetable? Have a marvelous Monday.
Best wishes Molly

Love the architecture of those type of barns. We have a few of those in the rural areas up here in Indiana. Anyone know from whence came the influence of that type of construct?

Hope you and yours had a wonderful turkey weekend, mi amiga

It seems to me that all over the place, barns are a thing of the past. I hope you publish or otherwise save all the pictures that you are collecting.

Nice shots. The trees at the front almost look like they're growing inside the barn so it's been neglected for a long time.

Boy, I bet there aren't many leftovers at a vulture's Thanksgiving table. (Your other post) And their road kill get togethers could use a little Martha touch.

The raised central section is unusual, I bet it's toasty up there on a typical August afternoon :-(

I bet there are some funky roof lines from the inside.

"Sweet" is exactly the right word. Just makes me hope it will be there forever, but since it won't, your photos keep the memory of a time alive. As with many of your barn shots, I was taken back to my childhood. My dad drove us to the next village every Wednesday for piano lessons and we passed countless barns along the way. I'm only beginning to appreciate them now after getting to know your blog.

I love the barn.

We had a sweet ole barn at the top farm. Someone stole it a board at a time...may they choke on it, uh, bless their hearts.

Dearest Theresa,
Lovely to see summery barns! Though it was a perfect day today when I drove this morning to my specialist for a check up. Good report and my back is doing fine too. Got to pick up one more box of tiles at the Home Depot in that city for taking home. Our bathroom is almost done...
Hugs to you,
Mariette

Great shots of cool barn.

Faye said...

You're right--very homely, but endearing shape. Love the way it just squats by the roadside.

And like some of your other commenters--need to find a "git fit" place after all the Thanksgiving feasting. My new health insurance plan participates in a "Silver Sneakers" benefit--perhaps I'll be able to find a good "git fit" place for old codgerettes in January!

Liz said...
