I remember crows in Texas. We have a few in northern Arkansas, but suspect the southern are where agriculture is a major part of the landscape, crows ae more prolific.

Deanna said...

Great captures of the crow. Most of our crow population is gone...not sure why, obviously flew away to a better place.

Great shots! The crow seems to be posing for you.

Dar said...

The crows are scardy cats, flying the second you move so I'm guessing you had a good vantage point to get so many fantastic shots. We have so many in the fields picking up as much winter rye seed as possible before the snow flies. I enjoy your photos so much. Thanks

Sinbad and I on the Loose said...

Seeing this guy reminded me of the large Ravens that hang out in Yosemite. At one time five were surrounding Sinbad squaking away while he was out on his rope. 5 against one - not fair. Sinbad wasn't concerned in the least. I had to go out and shoosh them away for some peace and quiet.

MTWaggin said...

Smart birds them crows and ravens. At least they aren't the bird feeder raiders I have in the jays! And what do you mean you don't like my pants! LOL ;)

Gail Dixon (Louisiana Belle) said...

Boy, you really got some great shots of him. Love the blink in the last shot. :)

petspeopleandlife said...

Nice photo of the crow. They are too wary to drink from my bird bath. But they are such smart birds and I like crows. I enjoy the caws and other sounds they make.

James said...

Nice shots! I like crows but I'm not sure why? :)

Faye said...

The schoolyard bullies? Recently I had a whole bunch in an orange leaved tree--very Halloween.

Fireblossom said...

Crow, honey, can we talk? Everyone knows that black goes with everything, but there's got to be a little "everything" included, do you see? How about some red shoes, or some nice bangles? And for goodness sake, smiiiiiile. There! You're beautiful.

Sylvia K said...

Ah, we have these fellows in droves, flying all around the complex at night as well as day! They frequently park on the window box outside my office and stare at me!! They give a Halloween feel to every night!!!

A great series of shots of the crow.

Is that a little red seed in his mouth? Do you use a tripod for shots like this? How in the world do you manage to get a series with such great focus?

That blink completely caught me by surprise. I thought it might have a cataract. Eek!

Dandy photos of one of my least favorite birds to hear. I like to watch 'em just fine but holy crap, the noise they make when squabbling is unbearable.

Crows love bird baths. They like to soak their food in the water. They leave chicken bones in the water hoping that they will soften.

Lois Evensen said...

Do you supply towels at your bath? ;)

Love the images.

We're in FL, on the way to the ship for ten weeks. We'll both get in to see you here when we can get other blogs to load without timing out.

Take care!!

It is proof that you are an excellent photographer - you made a crow look good. I used to be scared of them, now a days they show up in bunches (herds? flocks?) or 6 or more - I never see a Lone Crow. Happy Weekend.

Add me to the crow lovers here! A most interesting bird, and if you see them when the sun hits them just right, they go irridescent. Do you ever see Ravens in your travels?

Cheers,

Over here in Sweden the bird world is dominated by Jackdaws which are a type of crow. After that it's those obstinate stubborn belligerent Magpies. But we still love'm anyway.
