I love the color of these birds. Like a creamy blush pink/gray, if there is such a color. Beautiful shots, as always.

Amazing how it's almost the same colour as the bird bath!

Did you know we have a hunting season for doves here in Wisconsin...who could kill one of those cuties??

Kathy said...

Such elegant creatures!

Oh. She's so sweet.

Sure seeing lots more of these ring necked doves in the last few years. Makes it a treat to see the more petite native Mourning Dove!

Awwww.... how precious! I LOVE doves~ They have such sweet eyes.

They are beautiful birds. Love the last photo. Talk about getting into it!!!

What a beautiful dove, I really love the colour.

Nice shots of the Dove! We get those here as well. There's quite a few that hang around over the winter. My local bird guru pointed out that the Dove photo I posted a few days ago, had his toes frozen off - hence no toenails! I hadn't even noticed. They have fleshy toes, and will freeze if exposed too long. I ask myself, why don't they migrate out at wintertime???

Sandra said...

Doves are my most favorite of our birds here and they are so dumb and so beautiful... they will sit on the ground and we can almost walk up to them, i shoo them away so Jake doesn't get them, then the silly hawk comes and swoops them off the power wires. they are just like these but I did not know the name of them.

Primitive Stars said...

Morning......oh my, such a pretty bird....love Doves and my Father was so fond of them to, makes my heart happy to see them, thanks, Blessings Francine.

Nice post. Doves are always welcome visitors at one's feeder or bird bath. The Eurasian Collared Doves are beautiful. We have some here in SW Florida, but I find them quite shy.
Thanks for sharing your photos.

It looks slightly different from the ones we have in HK. Nice shots.

Beautiful pictures Tex! We love our Mourning Doves here but I have to say they don't seem to be the brightest birds in the bird world. They are so sweet though and love to hear their coocoocoo.

Angela said...

We've always called them morning doves around here. I seen a field of them the other day. It was a sight to see that many in one place.

Linda said...

I'm beginning to think you're importing birds just to impress us. We have lots of mourning doves here, but I don't think I've ever seen one of these black-collared beauties. Love the full-face immersion shot.

We have lots of mourning doves here in the summer and I love it when they get on a wire and coo-coo to other doves. Its such a sweet sound.

Although we have a dove season, none of our family could ever shoot or eat these beauties.

Maybe the reason is in our mind, they stand for peace.

Great photos...as always!

Oh my goodness - such a beautiful bird, and so wonderfully captured!

Evelyn S. said...

Beautiful...but unbelievably fertile! What were once pairs here and there are now flocks. They have become a nuisance in populated areas because that's where they tend to live. The mourning doves can't compete with them. So although I once thought they were so special....not so much anymore!

Tina@WhatWeKeep said...

Beautiful, Theresa!
Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving!

I have never seen this dove in the wild. However, I had one as a pet and she died this spring at age 27 Unbelievable.I never took her picture. Don't know why except I was working up until 2 yeara go and I had basically put my camera away. She lived in a large cage on the porch until cold weather came and then she was a smaller cage in the house in the winter. In the summer I brought her indoors so I suppose good protection from weather changes and good food gave her a long life. She will always be remembered.

I had a couple of morning doves in my yard this summer but I never saw them use the bird bath. This one looks like he's sneaking up to his bath.

Boy in that last pic that guy sure is deep into the water. Those Doves are a pest in Eastern Wa. and are fair game. Now is that fair. They make a different call than other Dove's also. MB
