Neighboring Gates

Not exactly what folks mean when they say 'gated community', but the term surely applies to this stretch of neighboring properties.

If I ever win a million, that's what our brood will do....fence us off a hundred acres and build us a gated community behind it. Only thing is, I think fences only keep out honest people....the bad ones just climb over....might as well stay where we are.

I really like the simplicity of the third gate...simple, straightforward. It is what it is without any ruffles and flourishes.

Texas and it's land... barns, gates, and armadillos. I remember how I was always entranced by them... Oh, and the big, lanky jack rabbits! Do you ever get photographs of the "Texas" rabbits?

Great photos, gates sure are fancy in Texas.

I rather live in a gated community like the ones you show than behind some view obstructing brick walls.

Is it just me, or does the finch gate need a little bird in the center instead of a star?

Big and fancy for sure

Wow! Texas is such an interesting place. One day I will see something in person there other than the airport.

MTWaggin said...

Yeah but they are all so pretty! I don't think I've ever seen pretty gates like that around here (of course the log entrances are more the norm too).

Beautiful gates and each one is very special!

Your gates are a variety of everything, from elaborate, to just plain functional.

I grew up in dairy farm country (Quebec). Interesting to see your photos and realize that, at that time, fences were only to keep the animals contained. The lanes to the houses were always open. In yours, it almost looks like the opposite. The surrounding fence looks low enough to hop over and the emphasis seems to be on a unique entrance to the driveway.

Those are some beautiful properties. I like the gate with the cross. If I had a country gate it'd have a big ol' fleur de lis on it!

Sallie (FullTime-Life) said...

That's a nice kind of gated community!

Jeanne said...

I don't particulary like those gates. The last one is okay, it looks Ranchy... Are they to keep something in or to keep something out?
I jumped on board as a follower.

They're all pretty! I really like the winding drive with the last gate. :)
Happy November, Texas Chick! :)

Gated here usually means expensive homes and security to get past the gate but I think yours are much more suited to my tastes.
Nice finds Theresa!

Aren't the cultural differences of various parts of our country interesting? Texas has its gates; Wyoming has its chariot races; Indiana has Indy car racing...and basketball. What a great country we live in.

I prefer the simple "W". The first ones seem out of place to me--not fitting with the house designs. On the whole not much for gated communities--like connected neighborhoods.
