I DO love barred owls! I have one I keep running into this winter. Until I started birding a little over a year ago I had no idea barred owls stay here all winter!
I do love owls. I wish we still had them around here like when I was a kid. I hear them at night fly over, mainly as they screech at me. I never hear their wings but feel them. Does that make sense? I wish I could get pictures of them like that.
He's beautiful. You nailed so many great poses. The barred owls I saw the other day had their backs to me so it's nice to see the details of the face. Nice job!
Hello Theresa, Great shots!! Amazing to see this wonderful owl. It must be fanatstic for you to photographed this one. Shame about the flash in his eyes.
Oh my, just miraculous!! Such a unique bird & most of us will never see one very close up.! PS Thank you so much for visiting my blog & leaving comments!!! It makes me so happy that you are out there.
These are great shots! My daughter just sent me a photo of one that her friend took. He spotted it on the ground while building a fence. I don't think it was hurt and not sure if they nest that low, or not? Looked like it was concealed a bit, possibly in some brush, or a wood pile.
Pięknego ptaka i do tego drapieżnego "złapałaś" aparatem fotograficznym. Pozdrawiam serdecznie. eautiful bird of prey, and to the "caught" camera. Yours sincerely.
I always have to remind John that I'm not an owl when he wants me to look down the cross street to see if a car is coming. Beautiful pictures as usual.
What a beauty! You got some really great photos of this fellow. The only owls I have seen here are Great Horned and they are monsters so not sure if I want to get that close.
Yowza!! I really need to learn a little about owls. A few mints ago, I'd hear an owl outside every weekend - but now I don't. I want to see him soooo bad, and now your photos confirm it! Very cool!
Oh, how wonderful to have them around so much of the time. I saw one, once, in a tall tree in Jericho Park. I posted about it here. I went back looking for it but have never seen one again, except in your fine photo :) I did find a Long-Eared Owl once. I posted about that here. But over all, owls continue to be hugely exciting. Definitely not an every day happening. Love your fellow and you did really well with those shots. I especially liked getting a good look at the legs.
I just love this owl! Wish I could get pictures of one! We saw several Harris Hawks today and my pictures are not close-up. One of these days I will have to get another camera that does a better job!!!!

Wish MY head would swivel around like that! :-)
I love owls. In 18 years on our farm I've only seen 2. You're lucky.
We have never actually seen wild owls. Nice one. Bet watching them hunt is a real treat. Have a terrific Tuesday.

He's a beauty all right. I wouldn't want to be on the other end of those "magnificent legs and talons" though.
Those legs look huge! It's amazing how clean and clear the background is, it's like you're doing a green screen or something.
Cute, I agree, but a little scary too! Those red eyes. Awesome photos!
Liked them then...like them now!
I have a huge owl that hangs out in my yard and I just love catching a glimpse of him. Although I do worry about him snatching up my little Tater Tot!
They are such handsome birds! Terrific shots as always!! Love their eyes!!

You have such good detail in this series, but it's those eyes that catch our attention so completely. A fine job of shooting.
Wow! That's a case of "pink eye"!
Great photo's as always.
Wow, these are fabulous owl photographs, Theresa! We often hear owls hooting on our property but rarely get to see them.
The 'redeye' in this case should make him look fierce but he's so darned cute!
He's beautiful. You nailed so many great poses. The barred owls I saw the other day had their backs to me so it's nice to see the details of the face. Nice job!

I hope he's not hunting Mr. Squirrel.

Really special photos Theresa. I'm fascinated by those beautiful chest feathers. How fortunate you are to have these lovely owls nearby! :D)
I see how you are now. I guess I need to start looking for more sunsets. LOL
Great shots and with a flash too! It just depresses me!
Owls are the coolest. A few years ago, one swooped right near me, landed on a tree branch and watched me continue walking. Such a cool bird.
ADORE owls. You just reminded me of an owl my two children took while on campus... I will have to dig it out and write a poem :)
I adore this owl. Very very nice shots!
