cool shots theresa!! i LOVE the red shouldered hawk!!
(i got a few shots last weekend of 2 crows in a tree where a red shoulder was also hanging out...and the crows were trying to chase him away!! i'll post them if i ever get around to doing a post!! ha!! i'm FINALLY getting to do some blog reading this morn...after a WEEK, it's amazing how behind i am!!)
Wow ! Great shots of this beautiful & graceful predator. Is it the same hawk on the tree stump as well up in the tree? I always find it difficult to differentiate between hawks & falcons :)
The post on my Reader just above this had a pretty goldfinch picture. I quickly covered it up so this hawk didn't see it! He's a healthy looking guy, Tex! :-)
What a treat to see this bird, again I thank you! I attended a presentation on picture books that a librarian/birder friend gave. 2 books that I think you would like: Owl Babies &, especially ,Owl Lake.
They are such beautiful birds. We have several that hang around the neighborhood. One was sitting on a tree in our backyard just last week. It's surprising at how HUGE they are!

Nice shots. We have a pretty little Hawk lingering in the pear tree near the bird feeders occasionally. He leaves and the little birds come right back. MB
He's gorgeous! I just saw one in my neighbor's oak tree trying to take our front yard Mama and one of her youngsters. I was screaming and freaking out! It didn't get either one, but the youngster went into shock for about fifteen minutes! Mama was doing her mad cry. :) I like to see them flying with their baby. It's so beautiful!
Today, I saw 3 hawks perched on post and poles as I drove the last 4 miles to home. As soon as I passed one, I would think, "I should have pulled over to take a photo!" However, I didn't. I don't know what kind they are, but someday soon, I'll capture an image with the idea of learning what they are.
Nice hawk pics. There is a pair of reds in my immediate area. I stopped feeding the birds because I didn't want to make the hawks hunting easier. They were creating havoc on the doves.
I am always amazed how close you come to the animals zoom .. I've got no luck .. before you have the camera so far that I could pull the trigger .. the bird is already far more in .. :-)
Beautiful photo series showing a hawk. Beautiful new picture you put on yourself - always nice to put a "face" on them one blogger med.Ønsker you a good Sunday :) Hanne Bente
Dearest Theresa, Oh, the Red-Shouldered Hawk looks so proud and gorgeous♡♡♡ They might know they were used by the Land-Lords for hunting old-days in Japan p;) Loved the former post as well♬♬♬
Not getting better perfectly from cold (^^;) Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
A brider friend & I made a trip up the Maine coast yesterday. We saw (thanks to her, not me) 4 hawks in trees!! I was so excited after having seen your photos!

I love seeing these hawks. We see them a lot on fence posts traveling through Texas. Hawk was my Dad's nickname.
Perfect capture :)
Great captures -- all I ever usually see are the tail feathers flying away from me! :)

Looking for the next meal no doubt!

I haven't seen our resident red shouldered hawk lately but when we drive into Rosenburg, I see them perched on the wires surveying the fields.

Looking for a tree rat hopefully.
I'm beginning to wonder if all your birds are fledgling models, looking for a photo op.
you really have an eye for amazing bird shots!!
Looking for dinner
Beautiful hawk!
Tell him to come this way - we have too many rabbits!
Hmmm wonder how we could make one of them out of rusty metal to go with the buzzards.
He's a beauty. That last shot looks like he is saying "you got a mouse in your pocket?"
I'd have to be at the receiving end of his attention in that last shot, looks like he's focused on his next meal - very intense emotions!
Nice shots. We have a pretty little Hawk lingering in the pear tree near the bird feeders occasionally. He leaves and the little birds come right back. MB
I love these guys and your pictures are great.
A beautiful series of shots!
