A few gates from last summer

Gimme an "H"!

Or spell out the whole name of the place

This one with the backwards "S"s reminded me of a bed headboard.

Those gates provide a touch of class and adornment.

georgettesullins said...

Those gates just say "we clean up nice" around these parts.

I like the stars on the first one and agree with you about the last one:@)

I like the first one- don't know what it is about the black, but it makes a handsome gate..and fence too.

Jill said...

A good batch of gates! First one is my fav.

Hanne Bente said...

Great pictures - the last, I really like :)

Angela Häring-Christen said...

I've see the gates and I've thought, this are the gates of heaven (with stars and "H") :-)
So much pastureland, well-kept and peacefull. I hope animals have a god live in this farms.

Great gates

I wonder if one of these are auto gates!

Ha! You are exactly right about the second gate looking like a headboard...I'd be tempted to plant roses in front of it!

i think folks from Texas need to come to VA & bring some of those cool fences with them. so fun!! ( :

Big bed!

EG CameraGirl said...

You have such a large variety of gates in your area!

Molly The Wally said...

Now you said it, it does look like a bed headboard. LOL! Have a terrific Thursday.
Best wishes Molly

ja maar dan een acht persoonsbed.??

DJan said...

That would be a rather large bed, but it's definitely recycled from a headboard, isn't it? :-)

Pom Pom said...

Looking at your photos, I can hear the creak gates make when they open and close.

Mary Howell Cromer said...

There are so few fencing gates around here that it is so fun to always see your finds. If we go over to Lexington there are far more, but here in our county, not so much~

Dianne said...

I think I like the first one the most
such clean strong lines

Paula said...

Those are great, especially the first one~ but that last one is right on the road!!

Lynda said...

I love the looks of those. They give a great first impression to people and give the owners a chance to express their individuality and creativity. The first one is inspiration to me to put our initial in our yard somewhere or on our porch somewhere.

Jan n Jer said...

I like the last one!

I will take the H gate but without the H.. :)

No picture of "SOuthfork?"

The S's aren't backwards from the inside. It stands for "Sorry you're leaving"

Linda said...

The cattle behind the fence on the Brentwood place add an "authentic" feel to the place.

Jeanne said...

Your gates are going to make me so much more aware of looking for cool gates when I am out of the city.

islandwonder said...

I like Brentwood. Looks so homey!!

Joseph Jameson-Gould said...

Very elegant those first two. No space for wagonwheels and bits of wood, there!

Gail Dixon (Louisiana Belle) said...

You certainly seem to have an abundance of pretty and stately gates near you. I love the H gate but if it was mine there would be a fleur de lis in place of the H. :)

Dawn said...

Funny how a Gate can set the tone to the place. I would like to visit "Brentwood"...would feel like home with the "bedboard"...and wonder what to expect at "H". :D

polkadotpeticoat said...

The S's do remind me of a headboard....Heidi

edenhills said...

It still just amazes me that you have so many different fences and gates around you.

Raggedy Creations said...

Like the first one and the backward S does look like a headboard.

Patty Woodland said...

It does look like a headboard but for one very big bed :)

Sinbad and I on the Loose said...

The "H" ranch needs some ornament on top. Otherwise it looks like the gallows.

Gail said...

Oh, how I wish I could have a beautiful gate like those. Hubby can't weld anymore so...

Thanks for sharing these.

Karen said...

We don't see many gates on farms here, names are usually on the barn.

Lisa @ Two Bears Farm said...

Folks don't just buy gates at Southern States there, do they?

S. J. Qualls said...

I like the zigzag fence part!

Wayne (Woody), whatever said...

It might get a bit tricky if the Brentwood's move :-0

The other gate really does look like the headboard from an old bed.

Allison said...

I remember these lovely pictures! Nice wide open spaces...

val's alentejo blogspot.com said...

I dare not show you my front gates.
_They need a good paint.. I must get around to it.
The SSS gate would indeed make a splendid bed head.

Icy BC said...

Gorgeous fences, and they all looked like secluded places!

Sallie (FullTime-Life) said...

That last one looks exactly like a giant version of the bed I slept in as a child (I thought the backward Ss were for my initial).

Sylvia K said...

My first thought about the last shot was the same -- a bed headboard -- king size!

Deanna said...

These fences really make a statement....I can imagine they must be pretty darn expensive and especially when you add a name to them.

Łucja-Maria said...

Another very nice gate.
Fantastic photos.
I send greetings.

Pat Tillett said...

Nice ones! If I had a gate, I'm sure it would made of 2x4's and you'd have to pick it up at the end because it would drag when opened and closed.
